Introduction¶
The official DeepSeek Harness (DSH) input box only supports dragging images. Dropping project files or folders triggers an error message, and file paths cannot be passed directly to the Agent. The dsh-drag-path plugin intercepts browser drag-and-drop events and locates the real file path on the host side (Node) by file name and size, solving this limitation.
Plugin Overview¶
dsh-drag-path is a client-side plugin maintained by Rudyy898. It allows users to drag arbitrary non-image files or folders into the DSH web interface, automatically obtain and insert the real absolute file path, and enable the Agent to read or write the original file.
Core Features¶
- Supports both files and folders
- Uses real absolute paths
- Smart location: prioritizes the workspace, then common directories (Downloads/Desktop/Documents/Home), using
findandmdfindfor exact matching and supplementary search - Shows a selector when multiple files with the same name are found
- Supports pasting files
- Does not affect image dragging
- Supports batch drops
- Provides visual feedback during dragging
- Supports macOS and Windows platforms
Installation¶
Run the following command in the terminal:
dsh plugin --profile web add https://github.com/Rudyy898/dsh-drag-path
After installation, restart dsh web and refresh the browser to apply the changes.
Usage¶
Drag a file or folder from Finder or File Explorer directly to any position on the DSH page:
1. Unique match: the absolute path is inserted directly into the input box.
2. Multiple candidates with the same name: a selector is displayed; choose the correct path.
3. Not found: the file name is inserted (a hint is shown in the console).
How It Works¶
The browser security sandbox only exposes the File object (name/size/type) and does not provide the absolute path. This plugin locates the file on the host side (Node) using file name and file size.
- Location strategy: prioritize the current workspace, then common directories, and finally fall back to a global search.
- Nearby adaptation: during batch drops, use the previously located path as a hint to speed up locating other files in the same directory.
- Validation method: exact file name match + file size verification.
Platform Support¶
- macOS: uses
findfor exact name matching +mdfind(Spotlight) as a supplementary search. - Windows: uses PowerShell
Get-ChildItemfor recursive search +wherefor global lookup, and supports Chinese directory names.
Configuration¶
No configuration is required. All behavior works out of the box.
License and Notes¶
- License: MIT License.
- Permissions: the plugin runs with the permissions of the current dsh process. It is recommended to review the source code before installation.
