DeepSeek Harness (DSH) for the Web collapses the left sidebar by default to save space. During agent development, repeatedly clicking the collapse button can interrupt the workflow. dsh-sidebar-hover solves this problem by controlling the expansion and collapse of the sidebar through mouse hover.
What This Is¶
This is a client-side plugin maintained by qq-24. It modifies DSH’s behavior so that the sidebar automatically expands when the mouse enters it and automatically collapses when the mouse leaves. It relies entirely on DSH’s built-in collapse effect, does not create custom state, does not read sessions, does not touch credentials, and makes no network requests.
Core Features¶
- Automatic expansion on mouse hover: When the mouse enters a collapsed sidebar (from either the top or the bottom), after a brief pause it automatically expands.
- Automatic collapse on mouse leave: After the mouse leaves the sidebar, it automatically collapses.
- Manual collapse cooldown mechanism: After manually clicking the collapse button, the plugin will not perform automatic operations for 20 seconds, avoiding conflicts with user intent.
- Automatic disabling on narrow screens: The plugin is automatically disabled when the screen width is less than 768px, adapting to mobile devices or drawer-mode layouts.
Installation and Enablement¶
Use the official installation command:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:qq-24/dsh-sidebar-hover
After installation, restart dsh web and hard-refresh the browser (Ctrl+Shift+R) for the changes to take effect.
Typical Usage¶
- Automatic expansion: Move the mouse into the full collapsed sidebar (from either the top or the bottom) and pause briefly; the sidebar will automatically expand.
- Automatic collapse: Move the mouse out of the sidebar, and it will automatically collapse.
- Accidental-touch prevention: After manually clicking the collapse button in the upper-left corner, the plugin will not intervene automatically for 20 seconds.
- Responsive behavior: In narrow-screen mode (<768px), the plugin is automatically disabled.
Use Cases and Notes¶
This plugin is suitable for users who want to reduce manual clicking and improve browsing efficiency. Note the following:
- The plugin only triggers DSH’s built-in collapse effect, exactly the same as manually clicking the collapse button in the upper-left corner.
- The width of the collapsed sidebar is obtained dynamically and measured in real time, so it is not affected by theme changes, scaling, or official updates.
- The right boundary used for the leave-detection is also measured in every cycle, so manually dragging to change the sidebar width will not cause stale state.
Brief Conclusion¶
This plugin uses minimal interaction logic to address the operational overhead caused by frequent sidebar collapsing in the DSH web version. For more details and source code, visit the GitHub repository.
