Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts a plugin-based architecture, aiming to achieve functional decoupling through extensions. For scenarios that require video generation, directly calling third-party APIs usually involves cumbersome operations such as asynchronous polling, file uploads, and preview card rendering. The dsh-video-gen plugin wraps the MiniMax H3 model (routed through easyframe) and provides ready-to-use video generation capabilities for DSH’s Web Profile, covering text-to-video, image-to-video, and a visual workbench.

What Is This

This plugin is maintained by oebeliever and belongs to the model inference category. It registers tools such as video-generate and video-image2video, injecting MiniMax H3’s API capabilities into DSH. The host side handles core logic and file storage, while the client side provides settings cards, in-conversation previews, and a visual workbench. It uses native fetch in Node.js ≥ 20 and has no third-party runtime dependencies.

Core Features

  • Multi-mode generation: supports text-to-video, first-frame image generation, first-and-last-frame transitions, last-frame continuation, and reference-based generation (up to 9 images + 3 audio clips).
  • Asynchronous task handling: automatically polls task status and supports follow-up status checks via video-status, cancellation via video-cancel, and queue viewing via video-queue.
  • In-conversation preview: after generation completes, the MP4 file is displayed in the conversation as a preview card, supporting playback and download.
  • Visual workbench: located above the input box, it offers a four-step interface similar to Jimeng, with drag-and-drop asset upload, a historical video library, and real-time quota display.
  • Parameter control: supports configurable model tier (base/fast/mini), resolution (480p/720p), aspect ratio (9 options), duration (5-15 seconds), and a prompt optimization toggle.
  • Environment variable support: supports API Key configuration via environment variable or local plaintext configuration.

Installation and Enablement

This plugin is intended for DSH’s web profile. Before installing, ensure your environment meets the following requirements: Node.js ≥ 20 and pnpm.

  1. Run the following command to install the plugin:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:oebeliever/dsh-video-gen
  1. After installation, you must restart DSH (run dsh web again).

Configuration

After restarting, go to Settings → Plugins → Plugin Configuration → MiniMax H3 Video Generation.

  • API Key: requires an easyframe platform key (format sk-...). It is stored in plaintext in ~/.dsh/settings.yaml, and MINIMAX_API_KEY can also be used as an environment variable.
  • API endpoint: default is https://minimax.api.easyframe.cn.
  • Model tier: only minimax-h3-base, minimax-h3-fast, and minimax-h3-mini are supported.
  • Other parameters: include resolution, aspect ratio, duration, and polling duration.

Conversation Tools

After installation, the AI automatically receives the following tools, which can be called directly in the conversation:

  • video-generate: text-to-video. Provide a description to automatically create a task, poll for its status, and download the video.
  • video-image2video: image-to-video. Provide an image path (one image is the first frame, two images are the first and last frames, and three or more are reference images).
  • video-status: query task status and continue waiting.
  • video-cancel: cancel a queued or in-progress task.
  • video-queue: view the concurrency limit, queue count, and the current Key’s task position.

Typical Usage

  • Generate a 10-second landscape video: video-generate 10-second landscape video: dusk city rooftop, camera slowly pushing in...
  • First-to-last frame transition: video-image2video first frame D:\shots\sky.png last frame D:\shots\night.png transition 8 seconds...
  • Query the queue: video-queue

Video Generation Workbench

Above the conversation input box, there is a Video Generation Workbench. Its workflow is:
1. Set the frame parameters (model, resolution, aspect ratio, and duration).
2. Choose the generation mode and upload assets (drag and drop supported).
3. Use ✨ Auto-Generate Prompt to assemble the prompt.
4. Click generate and monitor the real-time polling results.

Output and Storage

Generated MP4 files are saved by default to outputs/video/ in the session directory, with automatic numbering for duplicate names. Historical videos are stored in ~/.dsh/storages/video-gen/library (retained for 7 days, up to 300 entries).

Notes

  • The plugin does not run concurrently by default, to avoid resource exhaustion.
  • A valid and funded easyframe API Key is required.
  • Only the three specified MiniMax H3 tiers are supported.
  • The API Key is stored locally in plaintext only.

Summary

dsh-video-gen seamlessly integrates MiniMax H3’s video generation capabilities into DeepSeek Harness’s conversation flow. Through CLI tools and a visual workbench, it addresses pain points such as asynchronous task management and file preview, making it suitable for DSH users who need to quickly build video generation capabilities.
