Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) depends on network access at runtime for LLM calls, web search, and HTTP MCP interactions. In restricted network environments, directly modifying system environment variables is cumbersome and error-prone. This plugin provides a graphical configuration entry point, allowing users to define a global outbound proxy in the DSH settings UI and persist the configuration to the ~/.dsh/.env file.
Plugin Positioning¶
This is a DeepSeek Harness (DSH) plugin maintained by naitoupi. It addresses the need for centralized proxy configuration management in the DSH UI, ensuring that LLM, web search, and HTTP MCP traffic follow a unified network policy.
Core Features¶
- Settings → Outbound Proxy: Enter a proxy address in
http(s)://format in the settings UI and save it. - Restore Default: Click the Restore Default button to clear the proxy configuration and restore direct connection.
- Persistent Write: The configuration is merged into
~/.dsh/.env, preserving other existing lines in the file. - Protocol and Routing Restrictions:
- Only
http(s)://protocols are supported; SOCKS proxies are rejected. - Local addresses (
localhost/127.0.0.1) are forced to connect directly and do not use the proxy.
Installation and Enablement¶
- Add Dependency: Add the plugin package to the dependencies of the web profile.
dsh plugin --profile web add github:naitoupi/dsh-outbound-proxy
- Configure Bundle: Edit
~/.dsh/profiles/web/package.jsonand add"dsh-outbound-proxy"to thedsh.profile.bundlesfield. - Install and Restart: Run the installation command and restart DSH.
dsh plugin --profile web install
Typical Usage¶
- Open the DSH settings panel.
- Find the “Outbound Proxy” option.
- Enter the proxy address (for example,
http://127.0.0.1:7890). - Save the configuration and restart DSH. After restart, the proxy will take effect for all network requests.
Applicable Scenarios and Notes¶
- Applicable Scenarios: DSH users who need to access external APIs in restricted network environments (such as corporate intranets or behind firewalls).
- Activation Mechanism: DSH bundles
@deepseek-ai/dsh-http-proxyinternally. On startup, it readshttp_proxy/https_proxyfrom environment variables or~/.dsh/.env. DSH must be restarted after modifying the configuration for changes to take effect. - Ecosystem Conventions: The DSH philosophy is “everything is a plugin.” This plugin follows this ecosystem convention, is maintained by the community, and is not an official component. It is recommended to review the source code and license (MIT) before installation.
Conclusion¶
With this plugin, DSH network traffic control becomes more intuitive. For more details and source code, see: Community Directory or the GitHub Repository.
