Preface

The DeepSeek Harness (DSH) ecosystem emphasizes “Everything is a plugin.” When using an Agent to develop or automate tasks, immediate feedback is often needed, such as build completion notices, approval reminders, or scheduled task results. However, DSH’s built-in mechanisms or some plugins typically provide only in-session feedback by default, making it difficult to deliver notifications directly to mobile devices or third-party collaboration platforms. The dsh-notify plugin aims to solve this pain point: it provides a push tool that Agents can invoke directly and mirrors reminders from the official schedule module to external channels.

Plugin Overview

dsh-notify is a DSH plugin maintained by user Lubaoshuai. Its core value lies in providing two capabilities: first, it allows an Agent to send arbitrary messages at runtime through the notify_send tool; second, as a companion to @deepseek-ai/dsh-schedule, it syncs schedule reminders to external channels, compensating for the limitation that the official Schedule only works within a session.

Core Capabilities

  • Agent-invokable tool: The plugin registers the notify_send tool, which an Agent can call during conversation to push messages for build completion, approval requests, scheduled task results, and other events.
  • Schedule reminder mirroring: The official dsh-schedule is designed only for in-session notifications. dsh-notify listens to the same schedule/change event stream and mirrors reminders to external channels.
  • Multi-channel support: Supports Telegram, Slack, Discord, Feishu, DingTalk, Bark, ntfy, and webhook.
  • Concurrency and fault tolerance: Messages are sent concurrently to all configured channels. A single channel failure does not block the other channels; the tool returns the delivery status for each channel.
  • Configuration and settings: Supports management through configuration files. A Web UI plugin settings page is planned for the v0.2 release.

Installation and Enablement

Use the official CLI to install the plugin:

# 从 npm 安装(插件发布后可用)
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-notify

# 或直接从 GitHub 安装
dsh plugin --profile web add github:Lubaoshuai/dsh-notify

After installation, restart the dsh web session so that the Agent can recognize and invoke the notify_send tool.

Configuration and Usage

  1. Create the configuration file: Create a ~/.dsh/dsh-notify/config. file under the DSH_HOME directory.
  2. Configure channels: Define a channels list in the file to specify notification targets. For example, configure Feishu, Telegram, or Bark.
  3. Enable schedule mirroring: Set "scheduleNotifications": true to enable external synchronization of schedule reminders.
  4. Adjust timeout: Use the timeoutMs parameter to control the timeout duration for sending notifications.
  5. Restart the session: After modifying the configuration file, restart the dsh process to apply the changes.

An Agent can invoke the tool through conversational instructions, such as: “Please notify me after my test is complete.” It can also directly use the Webhook channel to send custom POST requests.

Notes

  • Protect sensitive information: Bot Token and Webhook URL are sensitive credentials. It is recommended to set the permissions on the configuration file to 0600 to avoid leakage.
  • Process dependency: When the DSH process is stopped, notifications will not be sent. On the next startup, the schedule module passes the pending reminders to be sent.
  • Network protocol: The Webhook channel should use HTTPS for outbound integrations.
  • Future plans: The v0.2 release is planned to add a Web UI settings card and SMTP email support.

Summary

By providing a standardized tool interface and a schedule synchronization mechanism, dsh-notify lowers the barrier for DeepSeek Harness developers building notification systems. If you need to push Agent behavior or scheduled task results in real time to mobile devices or collaboration platforms, this plugin offers a ready-to-use solution.
