Introduction¶
The ctx.web slot in DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is the foundation of an agent’s web capabilities. The default provider may not meet specific requirements for search result freshness or page-fetching format (such as pure Markdown). The dsh-firecrawl plugin registers new providers, integrating Firecrawl’s capabilities into DSH’s native toolchain, enabling web_search and web_fetch to use Firecrawl’s APIs directly.
Plugin Purpose¶
This plugin registers two providers (search and fetch) into the ctx.web slot. It addresses web searching via Firecrawl (retrieving fresh sources) and fetching any page as clean Markdown. It is maintained by Lorodn4x and licensed under MIT.
Core Features¶
- Registers two providers into the
ctx.webslot. - Enables the native tools
web_searchandweb_fetchto operate through Firecrawl. - Search returns fresh sources.
- Fetches any page as clean Markdown.
Installation and Enabling¶
Add the plugin to the profile configuration file using the following command:
dsh plugin --profile web add --save link:/путь/к/dsh-firecrawl
After installation, complete the final step in the configuration file. Add "dsh-firecrawl" to the end of the dsh.profile.bundles list (to ensure the plugin is applied after @deepseek-ai/dsh-web-app). Before starting the profile, place the API key in the FIRECRAWL_API_KEY environment variable (the key is optional but recommended for production use). Finally, restart the profile to apply the changes.
Configuration¶
The plugin supports configuring the Firecrawl API via environment variables. The key configuration options are as follows:
| Key | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
apiKeyEnv |
FIRECRAWL_API_KEY |
Environment variable name for the key |
apiKey |
None | Explicit key (takes priority over the environment variable); do not keep literal keys in public patches |
baseURL |
https://api.firecrawl.dev |
Base API address for self-hosted scenarios |
searchLimit |
8 |
Number of sources per search request (1-20) |
timeoutMs |
60000 |
Timeout for a single call |
If no key is provided, Firecrawl will handle anonymous traffic but with lower rate limits.
Usage Notes¶
- Provider selection: Once enabled, search will be performed via Firecrawl. The DeepSeek provider remains registered but will not be selected.
- PDF support: PDF page slot support is not currently available.
- Runtime permissions: The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process. Review the source code and license before installing.
