Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) uses a plugin-based architecture. After long conversations or topic switches, the system-generated title may fail to accurately reflect the current session content. Manually editing the title requires going to the settings page, which is not convenient enough. The following section introduces a plugin that can directly re-summarize the session title in the sidebar menu.
Plugin Overview¶
dsh-session-title-refresh is a standalone Web plugin maintained by leolee9086. It extends the sidebar session menu to provide the “Resummarize Session Title” feature, allowing titles to be updated without entering the settings page.
Core Features¶
- Menu entry: Adds a “Resummarize Session Title” option to the sidebar session menu.
- Status feedback: The menu item displays in-progress, success, or failure states.
- Intelligent summarization: Generates a new title based on the conversation content, prioritizing the most recent messages.
- Input limit: JSON input is limited to 24 KiB.
- No dependencies: Does not introduce DSH core code and does not require the DSH source directory.
Installation and Activation¶
This plugin requires Node.js 22.19.0 or later, pnpm, and a compatible DeepSeek Harness Web environment. Follow these installation steps:
- Go to the DSH Web profile directory (default is
~/.dsh/profiles/web; on Windows, it is usually%USERPROFILE%\.dsh\profiles\web). - Run the installation command:
pnpm add 'github:leolee9086/dsh-session-title-refresh#v0.2.0'
- Add the plugin configuration to that profile’s
cordis.patch.yml. If aninsertlist already exists, append one item to the list:
- insert:
- id: session-title-refresh
name: dsh-session-title-refresh
After installation, reload the plugin or restart DSH, and refresh the browser page.
Usage¶
- Open the session menu (usually by clicking the “⋯” icon on the right side of the session row).
- Click “Resummarize Session Title”.
- The menu item displays the request status. Closing and reopening the menu still shows the request status for that session.
- If the request fails, the menu displays the reason and provides a retry option.
- Repeated clicks while the request is in progress will not trigger duplicate calls.
Notes¶
- The plugin itself has no third-party or internal DSH dependencies; it works only through the runtime Cordis service contract.
- DSH’s plugin API may still change across versions; verify compatibility when using other versions.
- Older versions call
sessionTitle.refresh(), and default behavior may select only the first human message. - Older versions only search for sessions in the live session table; unloaded historical sessions will fail.
- Closing the request in the browser or uninstalling the plugin cancels unfinished generation.
Summary¶
This plugin solves the inconvenience of updating session titles through menu extension. It independently executes title requests and does not override global automatic naming. It is suitable for users who need to organize session titles frequently.
