Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts a plugin-based architecture. When handling long-running tasks or complex workflows, using a model directly often lacks determinism, making it difficult to track state and prone to losing control. Orbit, as a deterministic long-task orchestrator for DSH, introduces clear role assignments and process control to break down “planning, execution, review, correction, recovery, and final acceptance” into manageable steps. It is not related to the official DeepSeek organization and is a community plugin.

Core Features

Orbit decomposes task execution into several roles and mechanisms:

  • Commander: Responsible for planning, step review, final review, and strategy adjustment; maintains a continuous session.
  • Executor: Performs single-step execution, tool calls, and verification; reuses sessions.
  • Heartbeat Watchdog: Intervenes immediately on anomalies and performs periodic inspections, actively monitoring runtime health.
  • Durable State: Persists Run state to .cx/sessions/, supporting cold recovery.
  • Bounded Loop: Plan, Correction, Watchdog, and Append all have explicit limits.
  • Route Freeze: After creation, role models and Reasoning are frozen; changing the UI mid-run only affects the next Run.
  • Persistent Role Sessions: Session identity, turns, and Token are written to State; normal handoffs do not recreate roles.
  • Mutation Fence: Prevents conflicts through serial execution when multiple Sessions coexist.
  • Optional MoA: Multi-candidate competitive execution (requires additional installation).
  • Optional Browser: Works with @kasenri/dsh-browser for real web page operations.

Installation and Activation

The installation command is as follows:

dsh plugin --profile web add github:KasenRi/dsh-orbit

There are three ways to activate Orbit:

  1. Use the /agent-orbit <goal> command.
  2. In the conversation, enter orbit mode (for example, “Use orbit mode to complete this project”).
  3. Use cx mode.

Typical Usage

Orbit drives execution through the orbit_controller tool. The supported operations include:

  • Start/Run: Call orbit_controller and set action to run or start.
  • Resume Run: Call orbit_controller and set action to resume.
  • Check Status: Call orbit_controller and set action to status.
  • Stop Run: Call orbit_controller and set action to stop.
  • Environment Check: Call orbit_controller and set action to doctor.

Example configuration:

{
  "action": "run",
  "goal": "…",
  "approved_loop_count": 4,
  "user_hard_constraints": ["only touch src/"]
}

Applicable Scenarios and Notes

  • Environment Requirements: Depends on DSH base services (agents, subagents, tools, sessions) and requires Node.js >= 22.19.0.
  • MoA Dependency: MoA (multi-candidate competitive execution) is an optional feature. To use it, you must additionally install @goodandready/dsh-moa separately. MoA is only responsible for providing candidates; Orbit determines the process, and the Judge only performs relative selection.
  • Non-official Status: Orbit is an unofficial community plugin and is not related to the official DeepSeek organization.
  • Permissions and Security: The plugin runs with the current DSH process permissions. It is recommended to inspect the source code and license before installation.

Summary

Through structured roles and state management, Orbit enables AI to complete tasks according to a deterministic engineering process, rather than merely “continuous answering.” For complex tasks that require long chains, recoverability, and auditability, Orbit provides a controllable execution path.
