Introduction

When developing with DeepSeek Harness, API costs are usually based on non-contiguous billing windows. If you do not know whether the current period is peak or off-peak, or how long it is until the next billing window, it is difficult to plan costs. This plugin directly displays the real-time pricing status, countdown, and estimated session cost in the session editor line of the web GUI, solving this pain point.

Plugin Overview

Name: imnotndesh/dsh-peak-pricing-warning
Author: Imnotndesh
Category: Online Tools
License: MIT

Core Features

The plugin displays the following information next to the model selector in the DeepSeek Harness web interface:
1. Pricing window status: Shows whether it is currently peak, off-peak, or weekend.
2. Countdown: Shows the time until the next billing window changes.
3. Session cost: Calculates the cost consumed based on the session’s tokenUsage projection.
4. Billing bucket support: Calculates costs based on DeepSeek’s four non-contiguous billing buckets (including cached reads, cached writes, uncached input, and output).
5. Color indicators: Uses colors to distinguish statuses (🔴 peak, 🟡 weekday off-peak, 🟢 weekend).

Pricing Rules

The plugin calculates peak windows based on UTC time:
* Peak hours: 01:00–04:00 and 06:00–10:00, Monday to Friday.
* Off-peak hours: Other times, Monday to Friday (including gaps between peak hours).
* Weekends: Off-peak all day.

Installation and Enablement

This plugin has not yet been published to npm and must be installed using a Git URL.

npx @deepseek-ai/dsh plugin add github:Imnotndesh/dsh-peak-pricing-warning

The installation command uses @deepseek-ai/dsh (the CLI package name), not dsh. After installation, restart the Host and refresh the web GUI.

Usage Examples

Example text displayed in the interface:
* ● Off-peak · peak in 8h 36m · $0.0795
* ● Peak pricing · off-peak in 2h 30m · $0.1240
* ● Off-peak weekend · peak in 1d 22h · $0.0310

Notes

  • No token counting: The plugin does not count tokens; it only applies DeepSeek’s rate table.
  • Model restriction: It appears only when the model selected in the session is a DeepSeek model.
  • Credits not displayed: It does not display account credits or negotiated discounts.
  • No mid-session switching: It cannot handle switching models mid-session.
  • Dependency: Depends on the tokenUsage projection.

Conclusion

This is a practical cost-control tool, suitable for developers who need to precisely manage API costs. For more details and the source code, please refer to GitHub.
