DeepSeek Harness (DSH) uses a plugin-based architecture that allows developers to extend functionality through plugins. In model inference and configuration management, the original built-in entries (such as llm-pi-ai and llm-deepseek) have issues such as slow updates, lack of quota visibility, and limited flexibility in model selection. The dsh-llm-provider plugin enhances functionality to address these pain points.
Plugin Overview¶
dsh-llm-provider is a plugin developed by maintainer imchangchang and designed as an LLM provider plugin for DSH. It takes over several built-in DSH entries and provides a self-maintained pi-ai bridge, quota queries, and a visual model selection and settings interface.
Core Features¶
The plugin mainly provides the following capabilities:
- Replacing built-in entries: Takes over the four entries
llm-pi-ai,llm-deepseek,ui-model-selection, andui-settings-models. - Self-maintained pi-ai bridge: Independently maintains the pi-ai SDK, can follow upstream updates, and does not need to wait for an official DSH release.
- Quota queries: Supports querying the balance and usage window for each provider and displays them in the interface.
- Model selector: Provides a model selector with provider filtering, feature badges, and model detail cards.
- Provider settings: Provides a visual provider management page that supports adding, removing, testing, and refreshing providers.
Installation and Activation¶
Ensure your DSH version is 0.1.6-alpha.1 or later (including the 0.2 series).
Run the following command in the terminal to install the plugin:
dsh plugin --profile web add @dsh-one/dsh-llm-provider
After installation, you must restart the dsh web process because the plugin tree structure has changed, and refreshing the web page does not load the new code.
Typical Usage¶
After installation and restart, go to the settings page to configure it:
- Go to
Settings->Model Services->Providers. - The plugin automatically declares a DeepSeek route. For a fresh install, the DeepSeek card is empty by default. Click to expand it and fill in the API key.
- For other providers, click
+ Add Provider, select a preset, fill in the endpoint and key, then save after passing the test. - After saving, the card displays balance information, and the model selector also synchronously displays a quota snapshot for the provider.
Notes¶
- Chinese interface: Currently, the plugin only provides a Chinese UI; there is no English interface yet.
- Restart mechanism: When upgrading an installed plugin, you must restart the DSH process for the changes to take effect; simply refreshing the page is not enough.
- Dependency note: The distribution package does not include the vendor directory. If the directory is missing, it indicates that the plugin is not installed, not that the version is incompatible.
- Route declaration: The built-in
llm-deepseekentry has been disabled, and the DeepSeek route is declared by this plugin in the configuration.
Summary¶
dsh-llm-provider provides DSH users with model support closer to upstream, visual quota management, and more flexible model configuration. For the related source code and documentation, refer to the project repository.
