Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts the architectural philosophy of “everything is a plugin” and extends agent capabilities through plugins. When developing or using agents, naming a product or software and verifying the availability of related domains is a common requirement. The dsh-namecheck plugin aims to address this pain point by integrating domain registration status and trademark screening logic into DSH workflows.

Plugin Overview

This is a DSH plugin maintained by HULILI-com. It registers a tool named check_name_availability. When an agent detects naming or verification intent in a conversation, the tool runs automatically and returns domain registration status and trademark screening results for candidate names.

Core Capabilities

The plugin includes the following verified capabilities:

  • Domain availability check: Performs authoritative queries based on Verisign / RDAP registry data. By default, it checks the .com suffix and supports expanding checks to other top-level domains (TLDs) through parameters. The service is free and does not require an API key.
  • Trademark screening: Provides two data sources for trademark screening:
    1. Third-party trademark search API (for exact matching).
    2. Bing heuristic web search (as a fallback, only as an initial signal).
  • Zero third-party runtime dependencies: The core logic uses only native Node.js fetch and does not rely on other third-party runtime libraries.

Installation and Activation

Run the following command in the terminal to install the plugin:

dsh plugin --profile web add github:HULILI-com/dsh-namecheck

After installation, restart the DSH process (dsh --profile web) and refresh the browser page to activate the plugin.

Usage Example

In a DSH conversation, simply express your naming requirement to the agent, and the tool will be invoked automatically.

Example conversation:

Please check the availability of the following candidate names: acme, demo, novalink, and report the .com domain status and trademark screening results for each name.

The agent will invoke the check_name_availability tool and return structured results, including domain status and trademark screening conclusions for each candidate name.

Notes

When using this plugin, keep the following facts in mind:

  1. Registration status determination: Domain check results follow official RDAP data. Even if a domain is parked or listed for sale at a premium price, it will still be reported as “registered.”
  2. Nature of trademark screening: Trademark screening is only an initial signal and cannot replace formal trademark examination.
  3. API limitations: Currently, national trademark offices or public query websites do not offer free open APIs. If no third-party API is configured, the plugin will rely on Bing web search for heuristic screening.
  4. Developer preview: DSH is in the developer preview stage, and the plugin API may change between versions. Attention should be paid to compatibility.

Conclusion

The dsh-namecheck plugin provides basic naming verification capabilities for the DSH ecosystem and reduces manual lookup effort. For more details or to provide feedback, visit the plugin directory or GitHub repository.
