Preface¶
The core design philosophy of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “everything is a plugin.” When an isolated execution environment is needed in agent development, the dsh-podman plugin provides a container-based solution through Podman. It routes DSH’s shell execution and file access into a container instead of running them directly on the host.
Introduction¶
This plugin is maintained by Exagone313 and aims to provide Podman-based backend execution capabilities for DSH. It allows DSH to run commands in an isolated container environment, ensuring the security and controllability of processes and file access.
Core Features¶
- Disposable, per-project containers: Provides disposable, per-project containers, with an independent environment for each project.
- Additional containers per workspace: Supports creating additional container instances for each workspace.
- Create container images based on Arch Linux, Ubuntu and Alpine Linux: Supports creating container images based on Arch Linux, Ubuntu, and Alpine Linux.
- Approval-aware escalation: Supports an approval-aware privilege escalation mechanism.
- Run processes in containers (daemons): Supports running processes in containers, including daemons.
- Run a terminal in containers: Supports running a terminal inside containers.
Installation¶
The official documentation provides detailed installation and configuration instructions. Please refer to the following document:
docs/install-dsh-and-dsh-podman.md
Notes¶
- The plugin runs with the privileges of the current DSH process; review the source code and license (MIT) before installation.
- This repository was primarily written by AI models. The models used include DeepSeek Flash, OpenAI GPT-5.6 Luna, and Anthropic Claude Opus 5.
Summary¶
dsh-podman provides Podman-based containerized execution capabilities for DSH, making it suitable for agent development scenarios that require isolated environments and multi-image support.
