Introduction

When developing sessions with DeepSeek Harness, you often need to quickly locate historical messages or view statistics for a specific turn. Existing interfaces usually rely on mouse clicks or scrolling through long lists, which is limited in efficiency. The following introduces a plugin for this scenario. It provides a keyboard-driven overlay for managing and jumping to messages in the current session.

What Is This

dsh-session-messages is a client plugin maintained by ewoowe. It does not modify the source code of DeepSeek Harness (the packages/ directory remains unchanged), but is installed as an independent module into the current configuration file. Its core value lies in using shortcuts and search to quickly locate messages in a session and display metadata for the message currently being read.

Core Features

The plugin provides two main interfaces:

  • Message List: Triggered by Ctrl+S by default. When opened, it displays the list of loaded messages in the current session. You can select messages using the arrow keys and press Enter to jump to the message’s position. The list supports search filtering.
  • Viewport Strip: Disabled by default, but can be enabled via configuration. When enabled, it displays the clock, usage, and duration of the message currently being read in the center of the session header.

Installation and Enabling

Install the plugin with the following command:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-session-messages

After installation, you must restart dsh web to load the new plugin.

Usage

  1. Open List: Press Ctrl+S to open or close the message list.
  2. Jump Message: In the list, use the arrow keys to move the cursor, then press Enter to jump to the corresponding message position.
  3. Search Message: After the list is loaded, directly type keywords to filter.
  4. View Details: If the viewport strip is enabled, it real-time displays detailed statistics for the current message (clock, usage, duration).

Notes

  • Environment Requirements: This plugin requires Node.js version ^22.19.0 or >=24.
  • Language Support: The plugin has built-in dictionaries for seven languages (English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, German). If the corresponding language pack definitions are not loaded in the current configuration file, these languages cannot be selected. Under non-English language packs, host labels may fall back to English.
  • Independence: This is a standalone plugin and does not affect the core source code of DeepSeek Harness.
