Developers typically need to maintain these environments manually. better-basicfun aims to fill these host-side foundational feature gaps with an installable plugin package.

better-basicfun is a Native DSH default workspace with complete paged read-only access to plugins, skills, memory, sessions, storage, settings, credentials, and DSH_HOME files.

Core Features

The plugin primarily provides the following capabilities:

  1. Default Workspace Registration: Creates and registers $DSH_HOME/workspace as the default workspace.
  2. File Initialization: Creates AGENTS.md, MEMORY.md, and the .dsh/skills/ directory without overwriting existing user files.

  4. Resource Access Tool: Adds the read-only dsh_resources tool, supporting viewing plugins, skills, memory, sessions, storage, settings, credentials, and files under $DSH_HOME.

Installation and Enabling

Install the plugin package through the DSH Desktop command-line interface. After installation, restart DSH Desktop.

CLIProxyAPI Catalog Bridging

This plugin acts as a bridge between the host CLIProxyAPI and DSH native settings for model catalog synchronization.

Synchronization flow:
1. The host CLIProxyAPI returns the rich models[] catalog (via a GET request with client_version=pi).
2. The plugin parses the catalog and maps it to a DSH-formatted model list.
3. Writes capability data to the llm-pi-ai settings and the native DSH model/reasoning selectors.

Note:
* Reasoning remains directly connected: DSH → configured CLIProxyAPI Base URL → model service.
* The plugin does not guess model capabilities; reasoning levels (such as ultra) are mapped only based on the remote catalog.
* It refreshes every 15 minutes by default, and also refreshes on startup and when llm-pi-ai or the API key changes.

Example configuration:
In DSH provider settings, configure a custom provider using a real CLIProxyAPI inference URL. The plugin only syncs the catalog and does not proxy inference.

Note: DSH currently cannot save a custom provider without any models. During initial setup, you must use DSH’s “Fetch available models” action and select at least one result before saving; manually writing a placeholder is not required. The plugin enriches the model list after the provider is saved.

Use cliProxyRoutes: [cliproxyapi] to limit probing to a named route only.

Use cases:
* You need a stable, default workspace to manage agent sessions.
* You need models to access system resources and configuration through a read-only tool (security considerations apply).
* You use CLIProxyAPI as the inference backend and want DSH to automatically retrieve the latest model catalog.

Important notes:
* Security: This plugin intentionally exposes sensitive DSH data to models. dsh_resources can return unredacted settings, resolved credentials, full sessions, and files under $DSH_HOME. Please read SECURITY.md before installing.
* Permission scope: The workspace path is $DSH_HOME/workspace. It does not grant the workspace write access to $DSH_HOME, protecting private DSH state from accidental modification.
* Independence: This is not a Codex plugin. It does not read ~/.codex, inject or modify DSH frontend code, or proxy inference. DSH native model and reasoning selectors remain authoritative.
