Introduction¶
The core design philosophy of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “everything is a plugin.” In real-world development or interaction scenarios, converting system audio into visible visual feedback is often cumbersome with existing solutions. dsh-audio-visualizer provides a plugin-based approach for this type of requirement.
What It Is¶
This is a system-audio-driven UI visualization plugin for DeepSeek Harness (dsh web / DSH Desktop), maintained by user caesarjue. It mainly addresses how to display audio data in real time within the application interface and enhances the visual experience.
Core Features¶
- 48-band draggable spectrum chip: A 118×24 pixel floating component that draws a real-time 48-color rainbow spectrum, responding to system audio output.
- Bass Glow effect: The window border emits a glow (spread range of 10–56px) based on bass intensity, with hues shifting according to low-frequency content.
- Memory-level FFT analysis: Uses the Web Audio
AnalyserNodefor analysis. Audio data stays only in the current process memory and is not recorded, stored, or uploaded. - Interaction memory: Clicking the spectrum component toggles its visibility, and the plugin automatically remembers the component’s position.
Install and Enable¶
Run the following command in the terminal to install it.
dsh web
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-audio-visualizer
DSH Desktop
dsh plugin --profile desktop add dsh-audio-visualizer
The DSH Desktop version requires an additional local patch to obtain system audio loopback permission.
Usage Example¶
dsh web
After installation, click the spectrum component, select “Entire screen” in the popup selector, and check “Share system audio.” Due to browser security model restrictions, manual confirmation may be required every time it starts.
DSH Desktop
After installation, run the local patch script ./patch/install-patch.sh once. After the patch is completed, the visualization will start automatically with the app and requires no manual operation.
Use Cases and Notes¶
- System requirements: macOS 14.2+ is required, and “Screen Recording” and “Audio Capture” permissions must be granted in system settings.
- Browser version: The web version requires Chrome/Chromium 141+.
- Version dependencies: Tested environments include DSH Desktop 2.0.5+ (Electron 43) and dsh web 0.1.5+.
- Privacy notes: The plugin uses memory-level processing and does not involve persistent storage of audio files.
- Open-source license: MIT License.
Conclusion¶
This plugin provides lightweight audio visualization capabilities to the DSH ecosystem and is suitable for scenarios requiring audio feedback or enhanced visual expressiveness. Source code and directory are available via the link below.
