In the development and debugging of DeepSeek Harness (DSH), when a main session invokes a subagent, its output is often buried in the main conversation flow, making it difficult to locate and switch to quickly. The dsh-subagent-panel plugin converts tool call lines into interactive cards, addressing the issue of low subagent visibility.
Plugin Positioning¶
This is a DSH Web client plugin maintained by BiKing567. It renders subagent and subagent_fork tool calls as clickable cards. Clicking a card opens the sub-session in the main session view without redrawing the shell’s session view.
Core Features¶
-
Inline Card Rendering
Renderssubagent/subagent_forktool lines in the main conversation as cards. Each card displays the delegated task, a real-time status badge (running/idle), the subagent ID, elapsed time, and whether nested subagents were generated. Clicking the card navigates to that subagent’s session. -
Floating Trigger
Displays a floating pill button in the bottom-right corner, showing the number of subagents in the current session. When a subagent is running, the button displays a red dot. Clicking the pill opens the subagent list, and clicking a list row navigates to the corresponding subagent. -
Command-line List
Provides the host command/subagentsto list the direct subagents of the current session, along with their status, mode, and labels.
Installation and Enablement¶
Installing the plugin requires the DSH Web client. Run the following command to install it:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:BiKing567/dsh-subagent-panel
For local development, you can use the link: protocol to point to the source directory. After making changes, refresh the page to apply them:
dsh plugin --profile web add link:/path/to/dsh-subagent-panel
dsh web
Configuration and Usage¶
Enable the plugin in DSH’s cordis line configuration and set the maximum number of message lines (default: 500):
- id: dsh-subagent-panel
name: 'dsh-subagent-panel'
config:
maxMessages: 500
Use the /subagents command to view the status of all subagents. Through the floating pill in the bottom-right corner or inline cards, you can navigate directly and view detailed subagent logs in the main conversation view.
Notes¶
- Environment Requirements: The plugin is developed for the DSH Web client, with the target version being
dsh0.1.0-rc.6. - Dependencies: The client packages (
@deepseek-ai/dsh-client-runtime,@deepseek-ai/dsh-client-locale,@deepseek-ai/dsh-client-ui-tool) are optional peer dependencies injected by the harness at runtime and do not need to be installed separately. - Rendering Mechanism: The plugin does not record its own conversation and relies entirely on the shell’s rendering logic to display sub-sessions, which is usually more accurate than a plugin-drawn transcript.
