Introduction

When developing or debugging agents with DeepSeek Harness (DSH), you may sometimes need to restart the currently running session, for example after applying code updates or fixing runtime state. Manually interrupting the process in the terminal and then restarting it is often not very intuitive. This introduces a plugin called dsh-restart-ui, which adds a button to the Web UI to directly restart the currently running DSH instance.

Plugin Overview

This is a small DSH plugin maintained by community developer BaoBao1996121. Its core function is to add a ⟳ Restart button to the session header toolbar in the Web UI. Clicking it can restart the currently running DSH invocation.

Core Features

The plugin mainly provides the following capabilities:
1. Injects a restart button into the Web UI.
2. Restarts the currently running DSH invocation without relying on hardcoded machine-specific paths.
3. Supports cross-platform usage across multiple runtime environments.
4. Supports source checkouts, installed CLIs, portable Node.js, and custom configuration profiles.

Installation and Enablement

Install the plugin into the Web configuration profile:

dsh plugin --profile web add 'github:BaoBao1996121/dsh-restart-ui#v0.1.1'

After installation, restart DSH. After restarting, the ⟳ Restart button will appear in the session header toolbar.

Considerations

Keep the following points in mind when using it:
* Permissions: Restarting DSH executes code with the current user’s permissions.
* Security: The plugin does not accept commands or file system paths sent by the browser. It launches a local Node helper pinned inside the package, and that helper reuses the startup arguments and directory of the current DSH process.
* Version pinning: This is an independent community plugin and is not affiliated with the official DeepSeek organization. Before installing, it is recommended to review and pin the version (for example, #v0.1.1) to avoid behavioral changes caused by updates.

Summary

dsh-restart-ui solves the need to restart a DSH instance directly from the Web interface and reduces the number of manual steps required in the terminal. For more details and source code, see: GitHub.
