Introduction¶
The plugin ecosystem of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) emphasizes modular extensions. The dsh-dream-skin plugin provides full-screen wallpaper display, with the background positioned in the center of the screen by default (background-position: center). When the wallpaper composition is biased to the left or top, it may obscure the chat area, while the original plugin does not provide position fine-tuning. dsh-wallpaper-position addresses this pain point by adding X/Y pixel displacement controls in the settings and remembering the adjustments per wallpaper content, allowing users to tune the display position individually for different images.
Plugin Overview¶
This is a satellite plugin designed for dsh-dream-skin. It uses CSS variables to implement wallpaper displacement at the pure front-end level, without modifying the core files of dsh-dream-skin. The plugin reads the content hash of the wallpaper to match the corresponding displacement record, ensuring that the previous adjustment is automatically restored when switching images. The project is MIT licensed and maintained by ArimaKana-Akane.
Core Features¶
- Settings registration: Registers a dedicated wallpaper displacement setting row in
Settings → Appearance. - Pixel-level fine-tuning: Provides displacement settings in the X/Y directions, with a step of 1px and a valid range of ±5000px. The UI includes shortcut buttons for
−10 / −1 / +1 / +10and a “Restore default position” action. - Per-image memory: The system stores displacement values based on the content hash of the current wallpaper (distinguishing image/url/gradient types). After switching wallpapers, the remembered value for that image is loaded automatically.
- Pure front-end implementation: Modifies
background-positionby injecting CSS rules, without requiring backend support or restarting the DSH process. - Dependency: It requires the
dsh-dream-skinplugin to work.
Installation and Activation¶
Install it using DSH’s built-in plugin command:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-wallpaper-position
After installation, restart the dsh-web-profiled service to take effect.
Usage Steps¶
- Select a wallpaper in
dsh-dream-skin. - Go to
Settings → Appearance, scroll to the bottom of the page, and find the “Wallpaper Position (applies only to the current image)” option. - Use the fine-tuning buttons (
−10/−1/+1/+10) or enter values directly to adjust the X/Y axis position (positive X is to the right; positive Y is downward). - Switch to another wallpaper; the new wallpaper will automatically apply its remembered displacement value.
- Click “Restore default position” to reset the displacement of the current image to 0.
Dependencies and Limitations¶
- Vibe coding artifact: The code is AI-generated and iterated, without manual line-by-line audit. Do not use it directly in production environments or scenarios involving sensitive information.
- Hard dependency and compatibility:
dsh-dream-skinmust be installed. If upstream changes the DOM structure of the wallpaper layer orlocalStoragekey names, this plugin may fail silently (no error, but it does not work). - Host half restriction: The Host half must export an empty
apply()function; otherwise, DSH plugin loading will fail, causing the entire DSH process to fail to start. - Feature scope: Supports displacement only; does not support scaling, rotation, or mouse dragging.
- Potential conflicts: The selector matches all elements under
bodywithposition:fixedandbackground-image. If other background plugins are installed simultaneously, the displacement settings may affect their background layers. - Environment requirement: Requires Node.js version >= 20.
