The core design philosophy of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “everything is a plugin”. When developing agents or local services, we often need to start and keep backend processes running (such as databases or backend services). In the DSH CLI or legacy UI, managing these processes usually requires combining multiple commands, and log viewing is not very intuitive. The dsh-process-panel plugin brings process-management capabilities to the Web GUI sidebar, allowing you to operate these processes directly from the graphical interface while also providing a corresponding tool set for the AI side.
Plugin Overview¶
dsh-process-panel is a process-management plugin located in the DeepSeek Harness Web GUI sidebar, maintained by user ALIWUER. It addresses the need to manage long-running background processes in the graphical interface. It supports actions such as starting, stopping, restarting, and viewing real-time logs, and it also provides a corresponding tool chain for the AI side.
Core Features¶
- Sidebar entry and status display: The bottom of the sidebar includes a “Process Tasks” entry that displays the number of running tasks. The panel supports multiple statuses, including running, orphaned processes, invalid, stopped, exited, and failed to start.
- Process actions: Supports restart, stop, terminate (for orphaned processes), and clear operations. The top of the list also has a “Clear Ended” button.
- Log viewing: Logs automatically follow the bottom. Manually scrolling pauses following; scrolling back to the bottom resumes it.
- AI tool integration: Provides the
sv_start,sv_stop,sv_restart,sv_logs,sv_list, andsv_cleartools. AI can control processes directly through natural language. - Shared list: All sessions and the GUI panel share the same task list.
Installation and Enabling¶
Before installation, ensure the environment meets the following dependencies:
* DeepSeek Harness 0.1.1-rc.2
* Node.js ^22.19.0 || >=24.0.0
* pnpm 11
Run the following command to install the plugin:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:ALIWUER/dsh-process-panel#v0.5.0
After installation, restart the DSH Web process (or refresh the GUI page). A “Process Tasks” entry will appear at the bottom of the sidebar (next to Settings).
Typical Usage¶
GUI Operations: Click the “Process Tasks” entry at the bottom of the sidebar to open the panel. The list on the left displays task status, and the right side shows real-time logs. After selecting a task, you can click buttons such as “Restart” and “Stop”.
AI Commands:
* sv_start: Start the specified task.
* sv_restart: Restart the specified task.
* sv_stop: Stop the specified task.
* sv_logs: View the logs for the specified task.
* sv_list: List all current tasks.
* sv_clear: Clear ended tasks.
Usage Scenarios and Notes¶
Dependency Requirement: The plugin depends on DeepSeek Harness 0.1.1-rc.2. Ensure the host version matches the plugin’s dependency version; otherwise, it may not work properly.
Process Permissions: The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process. Output permissions and port usage are constrained by DSH’s startup configuration.
Orphaned Process Handling: If the DSH process is forcibly killed (kill -9), residual orphaned processes cannot read output (the pipe is disconnected), and the panel can only display the PID and provide a terminate operation.
Command Execution Method: The command parameter in sv_start is executed directly via spawn without shell parsing. If pipes or redirections are needed, wrap the command yourself with bash -c '...'.
This plugin transforms command-line process management into visual sidebar interactions and connects the AI tool chain. It is suitable for developers who frequently need to manage backend services in a DSH environment. For more details, see the plugin directory or the GitHub repository.
