In DeepSeek Harness development and debugging, a subagent’s invocation chain (provider, model, reasoning effort) is often scattered across request headers or the network panel, making it inconvenient to view. This plugin aims to map this routing information directly to the UI, making it easier to quickly confirm the current session’s configuration state during interaction.

Plugin Overview

alaxrpg/dsh-subagent-route-badges is a standalone plugin that displays a provider / model · reasoning effort badge in the Header actions area of an opened subagent session.

This is a display-only plugin; it does not intercept or rewrite model requests. It uses a projection mechanism and leverages data from projectionValues and session-entered events to provide auxiliary information at the UI layer.

Core Features

1. Route Badge Display

The plugin registers a slot (ID: dsh-subagent-route-badges-action) in the Header actions area of the subagent session and displays the following information:
* Provider / Model: The provider and model used by the subagent call.
* Reasoning Effort: The reasoning intensity, displayed as “Reasoning: Default” or “Reasoning: Unspecified”.

2. Data Source and Fallback

  • Authoritative source: The data.header.config from the latest request/header.
  • Effort determination: Determined by header.adapterDefaults.reasoningEffort === true; when it is true, display “Reasoning: Default”; otherwise, display “Reasoning: Unspecified”.
  • Fallback mechanism: assistant/message.source is used only to roll back provider/model and will never clear an already determined effort value.

3. Implementation Approach

  • Purely additive: The plugin registers only with a unique ID into conversation.session.header.actions (a list-type slot); it does not duplicate or shadow official UI components and does not compete for single-type slots.
  • Placeholder handling: If the projection is missing, a “Route Unknown” placeholder is displayed to help verify the plugin takeover status.

4. Privacy and Data

  • The plugin only reads fields from session-entered events and projectionValues.
  • It does not read files, credentials, or message content, and it does not upload data.

Installation and Enabling

Please ensure your DeepSeek Harness version meets the following requirement:

DSH >=0.1.1-rc.2

Please perform installation, update, and uninstallation operations directly through the plugin marketplace. After installation is complete, follow the marketplace prompt to restart DSH for it to take effect.

Typical Usage

  1. View the badge
    Open the corresponding subagent session, and you can see the provider / model · reasoning effort badge in the Header actions area. Long text is truncated, but the full values are retained in title and aria-label.

  2. Check configuration
    If you need to view the specific configuration, you can inspect the data.header.config from the latest request/header in developer tools.

  3. Check Effort
    Check the state of header.adapterDefaults.reasoningEffort === true to confirm whether it is displayed as “Reasoning: Default”.

Notes

  • The plugin runs with the current DSH process permissions; it is recommended to review the source code and license before installing.
  • The plugin only takes effect after a session has been entered; it does not display inline in directory popups.
  • Compatibility requirements: @deepseek-ai/dsh-client-runtime >=0.1.1-rc.2, @deepseek-ai/dsh-client-ui-conversation >=0.1.1-rc.2.

Summary

dsh-subagent-route-badges solves the problem of needing to switch windows or inspect network requests when debugging subagent configuration by displaying routing information in the Header. It does not interfere with business logic; it only provides visual auxiliary information.
