DeepSeek Harness (DSH) extends functionality through a plugin mechanism, but on mobile portrait screens, the native Web UI layout can be difficult to use. The sidebar, modals, and input box tend to crowd each other, leading to a poor interaction experience.

dsh-web-mobile is a mobile adaptation plugin for the DeepSeek Harness Web UI, maintained by ADXZXCD. It redesigns the layout to resolve interaction conflicts on narrow screens, making DSH usable on phones and tablets.

Core Features

This plugin primarily handles the following scenarios:

  • Sidebar becomes a drawer: In phone portrait mode, the sidebar collapses into an overlay drawer, and the conversation area takes full width. Swipe right from the left screen edge to open it; swipe right inside the drawer to close it.
  • Modals become sheets: The settings page, file tree, and preview are changed to bottom sheets for better touch operation.
  • Input area conflicts resolved: On narrow screens, permission pills, model names, and toggle menus adjust positions automatically to avoid overlapping.
  • Long-session compression: Large JSON responses from the host (such as conversation history) are automatically compressed with gzip or brotli to reduce mobile data usage.
  • Tablet support: Touchscreen devices with widths of 768–1023 px have their width constrained and are centered.
  • Diagnostic debugging: Provides diagnostic debugging tools for troubleshooting layout or script issues.
  • Status bar safe-area handling: Handles notch safe areas, light/dark theme switching, and double-tap zoom logic.

Installation and Activation

At any width on desktop, this plugin is a no-op and only takes effect on mobile.

Installation command

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-web-mobile

Notes

  • Built into DSHA: This plugin is included in DSHA (DeepSeek Harness Android Launcher). If you use DSHA, it is ready to use without separate installation.
  • Package name change: The npm package name was renamed from dsh-mobile-nav to dsh-web-mobile as of 2026-08-30. If you previously installed the old version, remove it first and then install the new version; otherwise it may cause duplicate registration or loading failures.
dsh plugin --profile web rm dsh-mobile-nav
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-web-mobile

Typical Usage

  • Sidebar gestures: Swipe right from the left edge area of the screen to open the sidebar; swipe right inside the drawer to close it.
  • Diagnostic debugging: Add the parameter ?mobile-nav-debug=1 in the browser address bar. A floating diagnostic bar appears at the top of the page for viewing viewport status, overlay state, and JS errors.

Use Cases and Cautions

  • Use cases: Users who need to manage sessions in the DSH Web UI on a phone or tablet, especially when handling long sessions or frequently switching models and context.
  • Dependencies: Requires @deepseek-ai/cordis version ^4.0.1.
  • Code review: The plugin runs with the current dsh process permissions. It is recommended to review the source code and license before use.
