The core philosophy of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “everything is a plugin.” When developers want to use the model to generate content within a session instead of writing specific implementation code, dsh-animation-studio provides a “teaching video agent” built into educational sessions.

This is a teaching animation production workbench plugin for DSH. It breaks down complex animation engineering into instructions and data that models can understand.

Core Mechanism

The model does not write animation code; it only reads and writes JSON.

The workbench encapsulates the animation workflow into 10 model-facing tools (anim_*). The model operates on an AnimationSpec (JSON IR) through these tools, and all changes use JSON Patch format. This means modifications are atomic (for example, adjusting a millisecond value) and naturally support undo and rollback. State changes are recorded as events, enabling event sourcing and session recovery, so the animation progress remains after host restart or session reopening.

At the rendering layer, Motion Canvas is supported, and rendering and preview run automatically in the background. In the Web UI, tool calls generate session cards with interactive buttons that can directly trigger preview or rendering.

Feature Overview

  • JSON-first workflow: The model only manipulates data and does not touch the underlying rendering engine.
  • Event sourcing and recovery: Change records are stored in the plugin’s independent sidecar, without polluting host logs.
  • Background rendering: Supports asynchronous rendering tasks with visible progress and interruption support.
  • Interactive cards: Displays video preview and control buttons directly in the session.
  • Narration support: Includes narration subtitles and dubbing features, with support for custom external TTS commands.
  • Extensibility: Renderers can be replaced, allowing integration with other engines.

Environment and Installation

Prerequisites:
- Node.js >= 22
- DSH >= 0.1.5-rc.2
- The package manager must use pnpm
- Rendering requires ffmpeg and Chrome/Edge/Chromium
- Linux rendering requires Xvfb and Chinese fonts

Installation steps:
1. Obtain the plugin source code.
2. Run the installation command (note: the path should use an absolute path):

dsh plugin --profile web add F:\\path\\to\\dsh-animation-studio

After installation, restart DSH, and it becomes available in the session.

Configuration and Usage

Basic configuration:
Set the output directory and TTS (optional) in DSH configuration.

Typical usage:
1. State your requirement in a DSH session, for example: “Make a 30-second short video explaining gradient descent.”
2. After installation, first have the AI call anim_diagnose for an environment self-check.
3. Then interact directly with the Agent in the session; the Agent will call built-in tools to complete the full workflow from storyboarding to rendering.

Notes:
- The TTS feature sends narration text to the configured external command. In offline environments, pay attention to network policies.
- On Windows, the offline tgz path must not contain spaces.

Summary

dsh-animation-studio is an animation production workbench designed for models. Through JSON Patch and event sourcing mechanisms, it allows models to create educational videos without writing code. It is suitable for developers who need to quickly generate animation content in DSH.
