Introduction

When developing agents or interacting daily with DeepSeek Harness (DSH), managing sidebar workspaces can become a bottleneck as sessions accumulate. Common pain points include a lack of intuitive session statistics, limited archiving capabilities, and inconvenient cross-workspace session transfers. The dsh-session-xc plugin aims to solve these problems by extending sidebar interaction capabilities.

Plugin Introduction

This is a plugin that enhances session management for DSH sidebar workspaces. It is maintained by developer xchannel1987 and licensed under the MIT License.

Its core value lies in supplementing the existing workspace list: instead of just a simple list display, it adds statistical dimensions, archive and restore mechanisms, cross-workspace drag-and-transfer capabilities, and automatic naming assistance for new sessions.

Core Features

The plugin provides the following verified features:

  • Session count display: Shows the number of sessions next to workspace names. Supports two formats: (3) indicates 3 active sessions; (2/3) indicates 2 unread completed sessions / 3 active sessions (green digits).
  • Archived session management: Provides an archive entry in the sidebar workspace action area. Users can view archived sessions in the archive panel and support restore or delete operations.
  • Cross-workspace move: Supports dragging sessions into other workspaces. Ownership is automatically updated upon move, and under certain conditions (such as resident queued sessions), the move is automatically queued for persistence and completed after restart. The move operation supports preserving the title.
  • Active-only session filter: Provides a filter toggle to show only sessions with active records today (last operation time), helping quickly focus on the current workflow.
  • Automatic first-round naming for new sessions: After a new session completes its first round of dialogue, the plugin attempts to call the model to generate a meaningful title. This feature only works with non-official model routes (not deepseek-official).

Installation and Configuration

Installation

Install via DSH CLI:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-session-xc

Restart DSH after installation to load the plugin.

Configuration Options

The plugin provides the following configurable options on the settings page (all defaults are true):

Configuration Item Description
showSessionCount Show session count statistics next to workspace names
showArchiveEntry Show the archive button in the workspace action area
enableSessionMove Enable the drag-and-move session feature
showActiveFilterEntry Show the “Active sessions only” toggle on the left of the search button
autoTitleFirstRound Enable automatic first-round naming for new sessions (non-official routes only)

Usage Examples

View Session Statistics

In the workspace list, the current workspace’s session count is displayed directly next to the workspace name. After expanding a workspace, you can see more detailed statistics.

Restore and Delete Archived Sessions

  1. Click the archive button next to the workspace (usually a folder icon).
  2. Find the target session in the archive panel.
  3. Restore: Click the “Restore” button (PC) or tap the entire row (mobile).
  4. Delete: In the archive panel, on PC click the red “Delete” button; on mobile, swipe left and then tap “Delete”. Once confirmed, the session file will be permanently removed.

Move Sessions to Other Workspaces

  1. Long-press a session row to start dragging.
  2. Drag it to the target workspace or a session under the target workspace.
  3. Release the mouse/finger when the target is highlighted.
  4. Confirm the move in the confirmation dialog. If a “queued” message appears, it means the session is currently in a resident active state within the current process, and the move will complete after restarting DSH.

Filter Active Sessions

Click the toggle button to the left of the search button in the drawer header (when enabled, it appears in the theme’s blue pressed state). The list will only show workspaces and sessions with operation records today. Click it again to restore the full list.

Automatic Naming for New Sessions

  1. Start a new session and complete the first round of dialogue.
  2. After about 1.5 seconds, the plugin uses the session’s own model to generate a title.
  3. The sidebar or tab title is updated automatically. Note that this feature only works under non-official model routes.

Notes

  • Version requirement: The plugin requires DSH version 0.1.7 or later. The settings entry is located in the new plugin page; the old settings entry has been removed.
  • Routing limitation: The automatic first-round naming feature for new sessions only works under non-official DeepSeek model routes (provider is not deepseek-official). Official routes already have a built-in naming mechanism, so the plugin will not call it again.
  • Mobile operations: When deleting archived sessions on mobile, you must use the left-swipe gesture.
  • Restart mechanism: For resident active sessions (for example, sessions that have been opened in the DSH process), drag-based moves may require restarting DSH to complete the actual file migration.

Conclusion

By introducing mechanisms for statistics, archiving, moving, and filtering, dsh-session-xc significantly improves DSH management efficiency in multi-workspace scenarios. For developers or users who need fine-grained session management, it is a practical enhancement tool.
