Introduction¶
In the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) ecosystem, a plugin-based architecture is core. When running long-cycle tasks in the main Agent environment, inserting a simple background query (for example, confirming a port number or clarifying a difference) can interrupt the current execution flow or pollute the context window. dsh-btw-plugin provides a non-blocking solution for this scenario, allowing you to handle side queries in parallel in an independent window.
What Is This¶
dsh-btw-plugin is a DSH side assistant plugin maintained by WLV-ZEDD, providing the Instant Non-Blocking /btw Command. Its core value is isolating background queries from the main Agent flow, delivering real-time result feedback through a floating panel, and avoiding interruption of the current process.
Core Features¶
The plugin provides the following verified capabilities:
- Non-blocking Execution: After entering
/btw, the input box clears immediately (0 ms latency), and the query runs in the background without affecting the running state of the main Agent. - Floating Panel: Results are displayed as a Docked Floating Banner above the message input box.
- Quantum Equalizer Visualization: During generation, five pill-shaped progress bars pulse in the theme blue. When automatic retry is triggered, the progress bars and status badge turn amber.
- Smart Automatic Retry: For transient model errors, the plugin supports up to 5 automatic retry steps with progressively increasing intervals (1s → 1.5s → 2s → 2.5s → 3s, totaling about 10s).
- Session and Context Awareness: It automatically inherits the model from the current active session, extracts recent conversation history (
session.deriveMessages()) and the active workspace, ensuring that side answers remain consistent with the main conversation context. - Accuracy-Priority Prompt: It includes a built-in system prompt designed to guide the model to faithfully preserve terminology, synthesize historical context, and answer directly, reducing hallucinations caused by defensive constraints.
- Rich Text Rendering: Supports Markdown (bold, italics, inline code, ordered lists, and unordered lists).
- Isolated Storage: History records are persisted as JSON in
~/.dsh/storages/btw-historyand do not affect other plugins.
Installation and Enablement¶
The official command is recommended:
pnpm dsh plugin add @wlv-zedd/dsh-btw-plugin
If manual configuration is required, install the dependency first:
pnpm add @wlv-zedd/dsh-btw-plugin
Then enable the plugin in cordis.yml (or via a cordis.patch.yml patch configuration):
# cordis.yml
plugins:
@wlv-zedd/dsh-btw-plugin:
# Optional: specify a dedicated model; leave empty to automatically inherit the current session model
# model: deepseek:deepseek-chat
Typical Usage¶
In the Web chat interface, simply enter /btw followed by your question. The system displays a floating panel above the input box.
/btw What is the port number of PostgreSQL?
/btw What is the difference between TCP and UDP?
Panel Interactions:
* Pagination: Use the < and > keys to switch between historical side queries in the current session (shown as < 1/5 >).
* Actions: Supports copying the answer, deleting a record, collapsing/expanding content, and closing the panel.
Applicable Scenarios and Notes¶
- Applicable Scenarios: When you need to quickly look up technical details, definitions, or factual information during a long conversation flow without interrupting the main Agent’s reasoning.
- Environment Requirements:
- Node.js:
>= 22.19.0 - DSH:
>= 0.2.0 - Dependencies:
@deepseek-ai/cordis,@deepseek-ai/schemastery
- Node.js:
- Permission Note: The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process. It is recommended to review the source code and license (MIT) before installation.
Conclusion¶
By making background queries tool-based and visualized, dsh-btw-plugin optimizes DSH workflows. For developers who frequently need “main task + side verification,” it is a practical helper tool.
