Preface¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) tasks often require long execution times or wait for human intervention. When a user is away from their computer, they may not learn in time whether a task has completed, is stuck waiting for authorization, or needs an answer. The dsh-email-notify plugin solves this problem by using an email service to notify users of task status by email while they are away from the computer.
Plugin Introduction¶
This is an email notification plugin for DeepSeek Harness (DSH). It is maintained by Vergil-long and belongs to the online tools category. The core value of this plugin is to deliver task status information—such as completion, waiting for authorization, or waiting for a response—to the user’s phone or email inbox, ensuring that important events are not missed.
Core Features¶
This plugin provides the following capabilities:
- Task completion notifications: including cases where a task fails or is aborted.
- Tool waiting-for-authorization notifications: sent when a task is stuck at a step that requires the user to click “Allow”.
- Assistant waiting-for-response notifications: the question and options are displayed in the email, allowing the user to respond from their phone.
- Multi-service support: supports multiple SMTP services such as QQ Mail, 163 Mail, Gmail, and Outlook.
Installation and Configuration¶
The installation process consists of three steps:
- Install the plugin: Use the following command:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:Vergil-long/dsh-email-notify
- Restart the application: After installation, restart the DSH desktop application (exiting it also restarts the backend).
- Configure the account: Open the Settings → Email Notifications page in DSH and enter your email account and authorization code. For QQ Mail, you need to enable the IMAP/SMTP service from the web version of QQ Mail and obtain the 16-character authorization code (not your login password).
Usage¶
The key to using this plugin is controlling the send toggle:
- Enable notifications: On the session header, click the “Away Mode” button to turn it on.
- Disable notifications: After returning to your computer, click the button again to turn it off.
- Check the emails: Both the email subject and body are editable templates and include placeholders such as
{session},{status}, and{summary}. The settings interface supports live preview.
Notes¶
- Default behavior: Away Mode is disabled by default. Emails are only sent after you manually enable it, avoiding unnecessary notifications.
- Privacy and security: The plugin has zero dependencies and sends emails from the local machine. The authorization code is stored only in the local configuration file and is always displayed as blank when read back in the interface.
- Settings location: All settings are integrated into the DSH settings interface; no command-line operations or manual JSON file edits are required.
