Introduction¶
In the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) agent development workflow, developers often need to review long conversation history, quote specific snippets, and ask follow-up questions about those snippets. Manually copying and pasting text is not only inefficient but can also unintentionally disrupt the draft currently in the input box. dsh-quote-followup aims to address this pain point by providing a more intuitive and smooth way to quote and follow up in the Web client.
Plugin Positioning¶
This is a DSH plugin that supports the Web client only and is maintained by developer tr1v3r. It allows users to select text within the conversation history, insert native DSH reference chips via a floating button, and ask follow-up questions without overwriting existing drafts.
Core Features¶
- Floating interaction: After selecting text in a conversation message, a floating Quote button appears.
- Native chip integration: Inserts a native DSH ReferenceChipNode and reuses the visual style of
@fileor@session(atomic ReferenceChipNode, role hints, and colors). - Non-destructive insertion: The reference chip is appended to the existing draft without overwriting or deleting content the user has already entered.
- Multi-selection support: Supports selecting and quoting multiple text snippets at once.
- Compatibility handling: Supports localized display, automatically falls back to plain text when the host does not support native chips, and provides feedback for missing input.
Installation and Enablement¶
- Ensure DSH version
>=0.1.2-rc.1is installed. - Run the installation command under the Web profile:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-quote-followup
- Add
dsh-quote-followupto thedsh.profile.bundlesconfiguration item of the Web profile. - Restart the
dsh webservice to rebuild the client. If the browser tab is already open, refresh the page.
Typical Usage¶
- Select the text you want to quote in a conversation message.
- Click the ❐ Quote floating button that appears.
- To quote more snippets, continue selecting text and clicking Quote.
- Type your follow-up question after the inserted reference chip and send it.
Applicable Scenarios and Notes¶
- Environment limitation: The plugin supports the Web client only and does not support TUI mode.
- Data transmission: Chips are displayed at the UI layer, but they are converted to Markdown blockquotes when sent. When processing, the model can only see the Markdown text and cannot directly access the chip structure.
- Quote scope: A chip contains only the text snippet, role hint, and turn number, not a global reference. This design ensures that quotes remain valid during session folding or rotation.
- Runtime permissions: The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process. Before installation, it is recommended to review the source code and license (MIT).
Summary¶
By combining native chips with a floating button, dsh-quote-followup improves the conversation quoting experience in the Web client, allowing developers to focus more on logic and follow-up questions rather than cumbersome text manipulation.
