Introduction

In agent development, reproducing a successful tool call usually requires the model to reason again, or requires manually writing scripts. RoutineKit provides another path: directly capture and save a validated execution flow, and reuse it in subsequent calls. It addresses the problem of converting one successful, selected agent behavior into a reusable, parameterized routine.

What Is RoutineKit

RoutineKit is a tool that converts successful tool calls into reviewed, parameterized routines. It supports DeepSeek Harness (DSH), MCP, and native WebMCP.

  • Maintainer: sjh9714
  • License: MIT
  • Core value: Change inputs, inspect live tools, approve execution, and replay without requiring the model to reconstruct every step.

Core Features

RoutineKit provides the following capabilities:
* Convert successful tool calls into replayable routines.
* Integrate with DSH (version 0.1.2-rc.1 required).
* Run as an MCP stdio server.
* Support WebMCP and a local workbench.
* Support JSON export.
* Require human interaction (form-driven prompting).

Installation and Activation

In a DSH environment, install the plugin with the following command:

dsh plugin --profile web add routinekit

Prerequisites include:
* The DSH version must be 0.1.2-rc.1.
* Node.js >= 22.19.0 is required.

Typical Usage

Check the local environment:

npx routinekit doctor

Run a demo:

npx routinekit demo

Run a file system demo (using the official file system MCP server):

npx routinekit demo-files ./node_modules/@modelcontextprotocol/server-filesystem/dist/index.js

Use Cases and Notes

RoutineKit is suitable for scenarios that require reproducing deterministic linear workflows.

  • Permissions and execution: The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process. Check the source code and license before installing it.
  • Replay mechanism: The replay engine itself does not make model calls; it dispatches each step via ctx.tools.execute.
  • WebMCP limitations: The Web panel currently supports Loopback-only (loopback access) only.
  • Browser requirements: WebMCP features require Chrome/Edge or Playwright (tested on Chromium 151 and Chrome 152).
  • Storage: Routines in DSH are stored in DSH_HOME/routinekit. Standalone storage uses ROUTINEKIT_HOME or ~/.routinekit.

Summary

RoutineKit provides a deterministic runner for reviewed linear workflows. It does not make model calls; instead, it directly replays validated tool chains. For more details, refer to the catalog page or the GitHub repository.
