DeepSeek Harness is designed around the philosophy that “everything is a plugin.” For Agent developers who need scheduled tasks, manually implementing or introducing external scheduling libraries increases complexity. DSH includes @deepseek-ai/dsh-schedule built in, but it is not attached to a profile by default. dsh-schedule-enable is a pure configuration-layer bundle; its role is to enable this built-in scheduler and give the Agent the ability to manage reminders.
This is a pure patch-only bundle (configuration layer), maintained by user shixiong0529. It does not contain a module entry point and only injects @deepseek-ai/dsh-schedule into the combined profile through configuration.
Core Features¶
After enabling, the active root Agent receives three Agent-scoped scheduling management tools:
| Tool | Description |
|---|---|
schedule_create |
Creates a persistent reminder. Supports after_seconds (delay), at (target time), or every_seconds (fixed frequency, minimum 300 seconds). |
schedule_list |
Lists all active reminders in the current session, including id, UTC target time, status, and delivery method. |
schedule_delete |
Deletes one active reminder by its exact id. Unknown or already-ended ids return deleted: false. |
Installation¶
Install to the Web profile (web):
dsh plugin --profile web add github:shixiong0529/dsh-schedule-enable
This command automatically appends dsh-schedule-enable to the profile’s dsh.profile.bundles. After installation, restart the profile (restart dsh web), and the combined configuration will insert two lines, time-context and schedule, making the scheduler available.
Typical Usage¶
After restarting the service, create a new session in the Web UI and send the following instruction to the Agent:
Remind me to check the backups after 3 days, and finalize the reminder message.
The Agent will invoke schedule_create. At the scheduled time, a [SCHEDULE REMINDER] message will appear in the session and be processed normally by the model.
Requirements and Limitations¶
Environment Requirements¶
- DeepSeek Harness: 0.1.1-rc.2 or higher.
- Node.js:
^22.19.0or>=24.0.0. - Profile Dependencies: The target profile must compose
@deepseek-ai/dsh-base(the Web profile also requires@deepseek-ai/dsh-web-app), which provide base services such assessionsandagents.
Behavioral Limitations¶
- Only effective for new sessions: Scheduling tools are only available in root Agent sessions created after the profile is restarted. Existing old sessions do not automatically receive
schedule_create/schedule_list/schedule_delete. - Frequency limit: The minimum fixed frequency is 300 seconds (5 minutes), and Cron/calendar expressions are not supported.
- Delivery semantics:
- In-session delivery only: reminders only run while the original session is active. After a cold session is restored, they are handled as
overdue. - Exact-once delivery is not guaranteed: in certain crash scenarios, a reminder may be triggered once again.
- In-session delivery only: reminders only run while the original session is active. After a cold session is restored, they are handled as
Verification¶
If after installation you cannot see @deepseek-ai/dsh-schedule in the plugin list, you can first run the following command to check the configuration:
dsh --profile web --dump-config
Confirm that the output contains both time-context and schedule lines near the end and does not include disabled: true.
Summary¶
dsh-schedule-enable is a lightweight configuration-layer plugin used to enable the built-in persistent scheduling capability in DeepSeek Harness. It does not depend on external packages and is suitable for scenarios that need to quickly implement scheduled reminder features in an Agent.
