Preface

When viewing reasoning and tool calls in the DeepSeek Harness Web interface, the information hierarchy can become complex. The dsh-turn-fold plugin addresses this issue by grouping related reasoning steps and tool calls into collapsible structures. It is installed as a local configuration profile layer, allowing users to collapse process details for completed turns while keeping the final response visible.

Plugin Overview

  • Name: dsh-turn-fold
  • Maintainer: ruisenbai
  • Category: Client
  • Core features: Groups reasoning and tool calls into collapsible steps; completed turns collapse their process while preserving the final response; supports Diff visualization, path copying, and preference persistence.

Installation and Configuration

This plugin requires DeepSeek Harness 0.1.5-alpha.1. Source-code development requires a Node.js environment (^22.19.0 || >=24.0.0).

In the DeepSeek Harness repository root directory, run the following commands:

cd dsh-turn-fold
npm run dev:link
npm run build
dsh plugin --profile web add "$PWD" --offline

After installation, refresh the active Web page to activate the plugin.

Usage

Basic Collapse and Expand

  • During streaming responses: Consecutive reasoning and tool calls share a single collapse bar, while text content remains visible between steps.
  • After response completion: The full process of a turn is collapsed into a single bar. Click the bar to view the steps, then click an individual step to expand the original reasoning card and tool card.

Summary and Path Copy

  • Summary information: Displays tool-type icons, file names, and counts for reads, edits, searches, commands, other tools, and failures.
  • Copy path: Click a file name in the summary to copy its full workspace path without changing the collapse state.
  • Diff visualization: Successful edit operations display added and removed lines (Diff), excluding unchanged context.

Configuration Entry

Go to Settings → Plugins and click the Conversation folding card. Here, you can configure collapse behavior, auto-collapse options, and displayed metrics (such as duration, Token usage, cache hit rate, etc.).

Feature Details

  • Multilingual support: Includes English and Chinese settings.
  • Interaction feedback: Expansion, collapse, and content growth use transition animations; respects the system “Reduce Motion” preference.
  • State management: Preferences persist across refreshes; disabling the plugin restores the native collapse state from before installation.
  • Diff details: Multiple content blocks are displayed cumulatively; failed or incomplete edits have no line statistics; matching file names display their paths for distinction.

Notes

  • The plugin uses a Bundle patch to inject the Host plugin and assumes control of native collapse state management.
  • The plugin owns derived presentation modes and temporary viewing options, and does not publish runtime invariant companions.
  • Before use, ensure that your local environment meets the Node.js version requirements and check compatibility with the DeepSeek Harness version.
