Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is a modular framework for building LLM agents, and its Web GUI provides a visual operating interface. For users accustomed to Wallpaper Engine, the default DSH interface may feel plain. The dsh-we-wallpaper plugin solves this problem by allowing your local Wallpaper Engine wallpaper library to be mapped directly into the background of the DSH Web GUI.
What Is This¶
This is a plugin that uses the Wallpaper Engine wallpaper library as the background of the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) Web GUI. It supports video, Web, image, and scene wallpapers, and provides corresponding configuration and cache optimization mechanisms.
Core Features¶
-
Multi-Type Wallpaper Support
- Video: Played as a looping, muted
<video>element, preserving native resolution. - Web: Rendered in a sandboxed, click-through
<iframe>. - Image: Displayed directly.
- Scene: On first load, rendered by Wallpaper Engine and recorded as a 12-second H.264 looping video cache; subsequent loads use the cache directly.
- Video: Played as a looping, muted
-
Scene Caching Mechanism
When a scene wallpaper is first generated, it is displayed in the foreground for about 15 seconds to generate a high-definition animation cache. Later launches of DSH read the cached files directly from~/.dsh/we-wallpaper-cache/and no longer use low-resolution 160px Workshop preview images. -
Plugin Configuration Interface
A “Dynamic Wallpaper” card is added to DSH’s Settings → Plugin Configuration. It supports browsing the library, live preview, searching wallpapers, one-click application, and shows the status of the wallpaper currently running on the desktop. -
Readability and Performance
- Provides a dark overlay, panel translucency, cover/contain fit modes, and sharpening controls.
- Resource-friendly: media elements are reused, and seeking does not restart the video stream.
- Persistence: the selected wallpaper is stored in
~/.dsh/we-wallpaper.json.
Installation and Enablement¶
The plugin can be installed via profile hot-plug without modifying the dsh source code.
git clone https://github.com/pbadgpmeb22791-sketch/dsh-we-wallpaper.git
dsh plugin --profile desktop add "<repository-path>\new"
After installation, restart or hot-reload the DSH host, refresh the Web GUI page, and go to Settings → Plugin Configuration → Dynamic Wallpaper.
Notes¶
- Runtime Requirements: HD animation cache generation requires the Windows desktop Harness and a running Wallpaper Engine.
- Interaction Duration: When generating a scene wallpaper for the first time, the Wallpaper Engine scene window is temporarily kept at the front for about 15 seconds.
- Audio Policy: Due to browser autoplay policies, audio is muted by default.
- Security Policy: Every route rejects cross-site requests (CSRF protection); Web wallpapers run in a sandboxed
<iframe>. - Transparency Override: The transparency settings of this plugin override the official
--dsw-alias-*tokens and may affect third-party plugins that depend on these tokens.
Short Conclusion¶
This plugin provides highly personalized background customization for the DSH Web GUI, letting you enjoy Wallpaper Engine dynamic effects without leaving the DSH ecosystem. The project maintainer is pbadgpmeb22791-sketch.
