Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (dsh) uses a plugin-based architecture. dsh-plugin-tic80 is a plugin designed for the TIC-80 virtual machine, aimed at solving the problem of enabling LLM agents to directly generate game code, maps, sprites, and sound effects, while supporting real-time execution and hot reloading in the Web.

Plugin Overview

This is a TIC-80 virtual machine plugin designed for DeepSeek Harness (dsh). It retains all the capabilities of the official TIC-80 console and exposes all aspects of game development to large language models through 13 typed model tools, enabling a conversational game development workflow.

Core Features

  • Full TIC-80 capabilities: Supports 240×136 resolution, a 16-color palette, double-buffer architecture, a 4-channel sequencer, 64 sound effects, and lossless .lua/.tic conversion.
  • Conversational development: Provides 13 typed tools, allowing LLMs to generate maps, write Lua code, draw sprite pixel art, synthesize sound effects, and arrange music.
  • Web embedding and hot reloading: Includes an embedded Web UI and real-time WebSocket synchronization, supporting live hot reloading.
  • Multi-format export: Supports one-click export to .lua source code, a .tic binary ROM, or a standalone .html web game.
  • Built-in templates: Provides prebuilt templates such as minimal, platformer, sokoban, rpg, and shmup.

Installation and Enablement

Install it using npm:

npm install dsh-plugin-tic80

Add the plugin configuration to the DeepSeek Harness configuration file (e.g., cordis.yml or cordis.patch.yml):

- id: tic80
  name: 'dsh-plugin-tic80'
  config:
    defaultTemplate: minimal
    autoRun: true
    webStudioPort: 3088

Load the configuration with the CLI when starting:

dsh --profile web --patch ./cordis.patch.yml

Or import the TypeScript module in code:

import * as Tic80Plugin from 'dsh-plugin-tic80';

Use Cases and Notes

This plugin is suitable for scenarios that require rapid prototyping or direct generation of pixel-level game content using the capabilities of large models.
Note: The plugin runs with the permissions of the current dsh process. Before installing, it is recommended to review the source code and the license (MIT).

Summary

dsh-plugin-tic80 combines the retro development experience of TIC-80 with the generative capabilities of large language models, providing agent developers with a practical game development environment.
