DeepSeek Harness (DSH) Web mode usually runs in a browser. If you need a desktop client while reusing existing Web configurations, plugins, and session state, dsh-web-desktop provides a non-invasive Electron launcher solution.

Plugin Introduction

This plugin is maintained by ningbonb and is positioned as an Electron launcher for an existing Web profile. It locates the bundled overlay and launches Electron using the same Web profile, without modifying the DSH core.

Core Features

  1. Stay aligned: The Web entry point and the Electron launcher share the same Web profile, including installed plugins, sessions, model settings, and cordis.patch.yml configuration.
  2. Non-invasive extension: It is installed only as a profile bundle and launcher; it does not modify DSH core code, the agent loop, or the Web UI code.
  3. Follows updates: The launcher starts the Web profile through the current pnpm dsh, so after DSH is updated, it automatically reuses the updated Web implementation and installed plugins.

Installation and Enablement

Install the plugin into an existing Web profile:

pnpm dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-web-desktop

After installation, DSH appends this bundle to the Web profile, and it remains disabled during normal dsh web startup.

Typical Usage

Launch an Electron window from the command line:

pnpm dsh plugin --profile web exec dsh-web-desktop

pnpm dsh web continues to use the browser, while the dsh-web-desktop command uses Electron; both share the same Web profile.

If you need to specify a port, you can use -- to forward arguments to the Web profile:

pnpm dsh plugin --profile web exec dsh-web-desktop -- --port 8080

Applicable Scenarios and Notes

This plugin is suitable for developers who need to use DeepSeek Harness on the desktop but want to keep consistency with browser-side configurations. Before installing, check the source code and license.

Notes:

  • Does not create configuration: This plugin does not create or copy a profile; it only locates an existing profile.
  • Operation mode: The initial version is a desktop mode package, not a native IPC client. DSH Web Host continues to provide the existing HTTP and WebSocket carrier.
  • Process management: Closing the Electron window does not stop the Web Host from running, consistent with closing a regular browser tab.
  • Compatibility: Electron must be compatible with the currently installed DeepSeek Harness.
