Introduction

In the conversation view of DeepSeek Harness (DSH), the right sidebar is usually used to display context or output. The master1sun/dsh-file-workbench-lib plugin turns this area into a fully featured Web workbench. It is built with Vue 3 + Vite, provides a Windows 11 File Explorer-like file browsing experience, and includes a tabbed code editor and a persistent terminal. All features share the same workspace root directory, aiming to reduce the frequency of switching between the browser and local applications.

Plugin Purpose

This plugin is maintained by the user master1Sun and is an integrated DSH Web plugin. It mainly addresses the needs of file operations, code editing, and terminal interaction in a Web environment, bringing native desktop application capabilities to the browser side.

Core Features

The plugin provides three core panels in the right sidebar:

File Workbench

It provides a single-window, Win11-style resource manager interface. It supports multiple view modes (such as large icons, list, and details), drag-to-adjust layouts, directory-first case-insensitive sorting, and recursive search (with regular expression support). It offers full CRUD functionality, a Recycle Bin, external drag-and-drop uploads, and compression and decompression operations.

File Editor

It is based on a code editor. It supports multi-tab editing and loads language support for TypeScript/JavaScript/Python, among others, on demand via extensions. The editor includes breadcrumb navigation, a project tree (with state persistence), and right-click menu actions. File saving is bound to Ctrl+S.

Persistent Terminal

It uses ConPTY and node-pty to provide real console semantics, supporting Chinese output and full-screen TTY programs. The terminal is a global singleton, and sessions remain alive after the panel is closed. It supports multiple tabs (up to 9), with tabs that can float, be dragged, and resized. On Windows, closing the panel uses the taskkill /T command to clean up the process tree and prevent orphaned processes from remaining.

Git / SVN Management

It can be invoked via right-click in both the File Workbench and the File Editor. The Git panel provides operations for changes, history, branches, tags, remotes, staging, and the command line; the SVN panel provides features such as update, commit, and conflict resolution.

External View Injection

The plugin supports external plugins registering custom views through the Activity Bar without depending on the Vue or React framework.

Usage

The plugin does not provide an input box button; it is mainly accessed through the guide area in the right sidebar:

  1. Open the Workbench: Click the corresponding card in the right sidebar guide area (order: File Workbench 100 -> File Editor 101).
  2. Terminal Operations: Right-click a directory in the file list and select “Open in Terminal”.
  3. File Editing: Right-click a file and select “Edit” to open the built-in Notepad, or select “Handle with sub-agent” to pass the file to a sub-agent for processing.
  4. Save a File: Press Ctrl+S in the editor to save.

Technical Details and Notes

  • File Viewing Delegation: The viewing functionality of the file list (such as Markdown, code highlighting, and image preview) is delegated to the native DSH viewer. If editing is required, use the built-in editor or right-click and select “Edit”.
  • Permission Indicator: A permission badge is displayed in the top-right corner of terminal tabs, indicating whether the current session is an administrator or a standard user.
  • Windows Cleanup: When the plugin terminal is closed on Windows, taskkill /T is executed to clean up the process tree.
  • External Registration: External scripts can register views through window.__dshFileWorkbenchVSCode__.activityBar.register or window.__dshFileWorkbenchWorkbench__.activityBar.register.

Summary

This plugin delivers a desktop-application-like development experience using Web technologies. For users who frequently manage files, write code, and interact with terminals in DSH, it provides an efficient integrated solution.
