When developing agents in a DSH environment, implementation from concept to validation often requires strict process constraints. dsh-specify-lite provides a lean, plugin-based approach to manage spec-driven development. It is independent of GitHub Spec-Kit and focuses on implementation with local models, without complex sub-agent orchestration or heavy Git operations.
What It Is¶
dsh-specify-lite is a lean, DSH-native plugin for spec-driven development (SDD). It is maintained by MarcSierszen. It addresses the need for a structured implementation path without external dependencies or Git changes. The plugin breaks the development process down into verifiable steps through a series of commands.
Core Features¶
- Spec-driven workflow: Manage specifications, plans, tasks, and implementation through command-line commands.
- Three-piece model: Maintain specifications, plans, and tasks as independent artifacts.
- Single-model execution: Run within one agent session without sub-agents or parallel task execution.
- Git immutability: Do not modify Git state (no branching, committing, merging, or rebasing).
- Constitution and specifications: Support defining project-level principles and feature specifications.
- Plans and tasks: Generate technical plans and ordered task lists.
- Quality analysis: Perform read-only quality reviews.
- Implementation and validation: Implement approved tasks and record validation evidence.
Installation and Activation¶
Installing the plugin requires using DSH’s plugin manager. Ensure your environment meets the dependency requirements.
dsh plugin --profile web add git+https://github.com/MarcSierszen/dsh-specify-lite.git
Typical Usage¶
After installation, you can run workflow commands sequentially in a DSH session.
- Initialize the project: Run
/speckit initin the project root directory. - Define the constitution: Run
/speckit-constitutionand provide project principles (for example: use Python, design API contracts first, follow RESTful conventions). - Define the feature specification: Run
/speckit-specifyand provide a specific feature description (for example: “Add a health check endpoint: GET /health returns HTTP 200 and JSON {"status":"ok"}”). - Generate the technical plan: Run
/speckit-planand request a minimal implementation approach that preserves the contracts. - Generate the task list: Run
/speckit-tasksto obtain an ordered task list. - Implement and validate: Run
/speckit-implement; the plugin will implement each item and record validation results.
Applicable Scenarios and Notes¶
- Environment requirements: The plugin depends on Node.js 20 or later. The minimum tested DSH version is 0.1.1-rc.2.
- Running mode: The plugin is designed for single-model operation and does not involve sub-agents or parallel tasks, making it suitable for local model environments.
- Git permissions: The plugin requests explicit confirmation before writing files and never performs Git modification operations.
- Task IDs: Tasks use stable T001-style IDs.
- Version migration: Version 0.2.0 introduced a breaking redesign based on the three-piece model. Projects using versions before 0.2.0 need to migrate artifacts manually (for example, move feature directories to
specs/and renamespecify.mdtospec.md).
Summary¶
dsh-specify-lite standardizes the spec-driven development workflow by providing a standalone set of commands. Through Git immutability and single-model execution, it reduces the complexity of managing complex projects in DSH.
