DeepSeek Harness (DSH) allows users to configure custom model providers, but the native settings interface is often limited when configuring reasoning modes and multimodal parameters. The dsh-model-extension plugin takes over the model settings page and provides more complete extended configuration capabilities.
Core Features¶
- New “Model+” settings navigation: Uses a bundle patch to disable the official model settings page, which is the only model settings entry point.
- Model directory extended configuration: Adds reasoning effort levels (reasoningEfforts), input modalities (text/image), and compatibility (supportsReasoningEffort/thinkingFormat) settings to the expanded area of each model directory row.
- Automatic metadata prefill: Supports automatically populating configuration via
models.json; only thehttps://models.dev/models.jsondata format is supported. - DeepSeek account routing: Supports the
deepseek-accountroute, displayed at the top; the entire row is hidden when no models are available; the editor card contains only the model directory. - Data persistence: All configuration is saved via native DSH
settings.mutateand persisted to$DSH_HOME/settings.yaml.
Installation and Build¶
Web / CLI (profile web):
# github
dsh plugin --profile web add github:lovezi0/dsh-model-extension
# npm
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-model-extension
Desktop: Install it from the “Plugins” page inside the Desktop app. The installation source can be github:lovezi0/dsh-model-extension, dsh-model-extension, or a local absolute path.
Build from source: The build is self-contained and does not require host source code.
npm install
npm run build
Notes¶
- Independent installation: Desktop and CLI share sessions, settings, credentials, and workspaces under the same
$DSH_HOME, but plugin activation and lockfiles are independent from each other. The same plugin must be installed separately on the Web/CLI side and the Desktop side. - Data format limitation: Only the
https://models.dev/models.jsondata format is supported. - Account routing logic: The DeepSeek account route is displayed at the top; the entire row is hidden when no models are available; the editor card contains only the model directory.
This plugin provides DSH with more granular model configuration capabilities, making it suitable for users who need fine-grained control over reasoning parameters or need to manage multimodal models. The plugin is hosted on GitHub, and the source code is available for review.
