Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts a plugin-based architecture. In multi-turn conversations or when dealing with branches/subsessions, quickly locating a specific question often requires manual scrolling. dsh-chat-index is a DSH Web plugin that solves this navigation pain point through a visualized question index and chain panel.

Core Features

Right-side Question Strip

A strip appears on the right side of the session, with each question represented by a dot. Dots are distributed based on the actual time intervals between questions, with the top representing the earliest question and the bottom representing the most recent question.
* Click a dot: The chat area scrolls to the corresponding question and briefly highlights it.
* Press and drag: Quickly scroll through the chat history. While dragging, a small summary popup for that question appears on the right side.

Chain Panel

Click the ≡ toggle on the right side of the session title row, or the ⇱ button at the bottom of the strip, to expand the Chain Panel. The panel displays the summary and timestamp for each node.
* Branches/subsessions: Mounted under the main session as a subtree view. Click a node to jump; you need to switch to the corresponding session first, then locate and highlight it.
* Collapse: Click ✕ to collapse the panel.

Empty Session Handling

Empty sessions do not display the right-side strip, but the Chain Panel remains available. The panel displays “No questions yet.”

Technical Implementation

  • Data source: Based on a real-time snapshot of the current session + persistent history (session.history), and automatically rebuilt when switching sessions.
  • Pure frontend: The plugin is implemented purely on the frontend; the host retains only a minimal loader entry.

Installation and Activation

Install through the official DSH plugin channel:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-chat-index

After installation, refresh the page for changes to take effect.

Usage Steps

  1. Open any session. The right-side strip appears if there are questions.
  2. Click a dot or press and drag to jump to the corresponding question and highlight it.
  3. Click ≡ on the right side of the title row (or ⇱ at the bottom of the strip) to expand the Chain Panel. Click a node to jump, and ✕ to collapse.
  4. Toggle state within a session is remembered individually. After refreshing the page, it is collapsed by default.

Notes

  • Installation method: Choose either manual installation or the official installation channel to avoid double mounting.
  • Environment requirement: NPM_TOKEN must be configured to enable automatic publishing.
