Introduction

In DSH web-mode scenarios, checking the currently running DSH version is a common need. Developers often have to open a terminal or inspect logs to obtain version information, which involves a longer workflow. The dsh-version-plugin integrates version information directly into the settings interface, providing an intuitive entry point for viewing and updating the version.

Core Features

The plugin mainly provides the following capabilities:
1. Read the package.json of the installed @deepseek-ai/dsh on the host to obtain the current version.
2. Add a “DSH Version” row at the bottom of the “General Settings” section in the settings dialog.
3. Provide one-click querying of the latest version from the npm registry.
4. Provide a one-click global update button that runs npm install -g @deepseek-ai/dsh@latest and displays the command output in the UI.

Installation and Activation

You can add it using the officially recommended npm installation command.

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-version-plugin

After installation, start web-mode and open the settings dialog to use it.

Typical Usage

  1. Start DSH web-mode:
   dsh --profile web web
  1. Open the settings dialog and go to “General Settings.”
  2. Find the “DSH Version” row at the bottom of the list.
  3. Click “Check for updates” to view the latest version, or click “Update to latest” to perform a global update.

Notes

  • Update scope: Clicking “Update to latest” only updates the globally installed @deepseek-ai/dsh; it does not update the source code in a local pnpm workspace.
  • pnpm version restriction: If you install from GitHub source with pnpm >= 10, build script execution is blocked by default. You need to configure allowBuilds in pnpm-workspace.yaml and then reinstall.
  • When it takes effect: After an update, if the displayed version does not change, restart the web process and refresh the page.

Summary

dsh-version-plugin solves the pain points of checking the version and triggering a global update by adding a status row to the settings interface. It is suitable for developers who need to frequently confirm the DSH version or manage global installations through the CLI.
