DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts an “everything is a plugin” ecosystem philosophy. When handling different requirements in continuously developed projects, developers often need a tool that can dynamically adjust its workflow based on requirement complexity and reuse team standards. dsh-task-engine aims to provide task-scoped engineering workflow support for this purpose.

What Is It

dsh-task-engine is a workflow plugin. It provides task-scoped engineering workflow capabilities for DeepSeek Harness, including four complexity tiers, meta skills and project Skill/Rule binding, repository initialization, and optional SonarQube CI review.

Core Features

  • Engineering Task Ledger: Centrally view phases, implementation items, verification, and review status.
  • Adaptive Workflow: Supports four complexity tiers—low, medium, high, and extra high. Select the path when creating a task and freeze the workflow.
  • Meta Skill and Rule Binding: Meta skills define handoff deliverables, while project Skills/Rules carry team development standards.
  • Repository Initialization: Supports scanning the repository and generating project Skills/Rules.
  • Optional SonarQube Review: Integrates SonarQube and reads post-commit CI analysis results for review.
  • Skill and Rule Management: Centrally maintains a unique rule list for each skill.

Installation and Activation

Requires DeepSeek Harness and pnpm to be installed. The plugin is added to the Web profile you are using; the example below uses web.

dsh plugin --profile web add @godv61/dsh-task-engine

After installation, restart Harness Web, open “Engineering Tasks” in the sidebar, and start using the “Engineering Development Engine” session preset.

Typical Usage

  1. Select the Path As Needed: When creating a new session, select the Engineering Development Engine based on requirement complexity, and choose the corresponding engineering path for each requirement.
  2. Preview and Create: Use the dev_task assess command to preview the task and create the task ledger.
  3. Initialize the Project: Use the dev_task init_project command to scan the repository, preview, and generate project Skills and Rules.
  4. Configure Skills and Rules: Configure DSH rules under the skill, and reuse team development standards through project Skills and Rules.

Use Cases and Notes

  • SonarQube Limitation: The SonarQube integration currently only reads post-commit CI analysis results and does not provide local Sonar review for uncommitted code.
  • Task Snapshots: Existing tasks continue to run according to their snapshot at creation time. Later changes to workflow configuration do not alter the state machine of in-progress tasks.
  • Skill Priority: A project Skill with the same name overrides the user-level Skill in new tasks.
  • Resource Retention: Scripts, templates, and attachments associated with a skill are retained together.

Conclusion

This plugin helps developers standardize how they use DSH through structured workflows and standards reuse. See the GitHub repository for more details: https://github.com/godv61/dsh-task-engine
