Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) provides a Web interface for debugging and running agents. By default, the width of the chat column in the Web interface is limited by --dsh-chat-content-width. On widescreen displays, this can leave large empty areas, while the fixed heights of user message bubbles and the input box can make it easy to obscure the chat history. dsh-widechat aims to overcome these default limitations, using CSS overrides and a settings panel to make the layout better suited to widescreen displays.
Plugin Overview¶
- Name: dsh-widechat
- Function: Expands the chat column width, limits the width of user message bubbles, limits the editor height, and right-aligns the session statistics bar.
- Author: FraYoshi
- License: MIT
Core Features¶
- Expand chat column width: Overrides DSH’s default width limit, allowing text to fill the entire screen while retaining only the user-configured margin on both sides (Gutter).
- Right-align session statistics: Adjusts the session statistics bar (Token count, elapsed time, etc.) to right alignment.
- Limit user message bubbles: Limits the width of message bubbles for sent messages to prevent them from becoming too wide on widescreens.
- Limit editor internal scrolling: Caps the maximum height of the input box to prevent long text from obscuring the chat history above.
- Settings panel integration: Adds a configuration row to DSH’s General settings page, allowing live adjustment of the above parameters without restarting.
Installation and Enablement¶
Use DSH’s plugin subcommand to install this plugin. This command automatically invokes pnpm and reconciles the dsh.profile.bundles array.
dsh plugin --profile web add @furayoshi/dsh-widechat
After installation is complete, restart the DSH Web interface, click the settings gear to open the General page, and you should see the “Wide chat” configuration row.
Typical Usage¶
- Update plugin:
pnpm update @furayoshi/dsh-widechat
- Uninstall plugin:
dsh plugin --profile web remove @furayoshi/dsh-widechat
- Verify installation:
dsh web --dump-config | grep -i widechat
Notes¶
- Version requirement: DSH version 0.8.1 or higher is required.
- Fault tolerance mechanism: If a saved configuration value is out of range or has an incorrect type, the plugin automatically falls back to the default value and prints a warning message to the console. The page will not refuse to render.
- Ecosystem context: DSH uses a plugin architecture. This plugin is a third-party, community-maintained project and can be viewed on GitHub.
Summary¶
dsh-widechat addresses the empty space and layout issues in DSH’s default Web interface on widescreen displays. By adjusting the sliders in General settings, you can control the chat column width, message bubble width, and editor height, making the reading experience more compact.
