Introduction¶
The DeepSeek Harness (DSH) plugin ecosystem supports rich web capabilities. However, in practice, developers often encounter issues such as web_search returning 403 errors, a missing search API key, or the need to avoid external dependencies like firecrawl. This article introduces an alternative that requires no configuration and relies directly on local fetching.
Plugin Introduction¶
This is a web tool plugin maintained by fangqian616. It registers the bing_search model tool. Its core functionality is to fetch Bing’s HTML page directly, parse it, and extract the title, link, and snippet. It does not depend on an external API key, nor does it require registering an account or a firecrawl service.
Installation and Activation¶
Run the following command in the terminal to install the plugin:
dsh plugin --profile web add @fangqian616/dsh-bing-search
After installation, restart the DSH core service. The tool will then be exposed to the model as bing_search.
Typical Usage¶
When calling the tool, pass a query and an optional limit:
bing_search(query: "你的查询词", limit?: 10)
The tool returns a JSON array:
[
{
"title": "标题",
"url": "https://...",
"snippet": "摘要内容"
}
]
Notes¶
- Parsing mechanism: The plugin parses HTML using regular expressions. If Bing changes its page structure or returns a CAPTCHA/consent page, the tool may return an
errorfield. - Network choice: Because DuckDuckGo is blocked in some regions, the plugin uses Bing as the data source because it can be accessed without a key.
- Dependencies: Apart from the DSH core service, the plugin has no additional npm dependencies at runtime.
Conclusion¶
If you need to quickly implement local web search in DSH and want to avoid dealing with complex API keys or external scraping services, dsh-bing-search provides a lightweight solution. See the GitHub repository for more details and the source code.
