This article introduces dsh-free-games in the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) Web plugin ecosystem. In Web framework development, in addition to configuration items and toolbars, there is sometimes a need to integrate an entertainment entry point. This plugin addresses that need by adding a “Games” button at the bottom of the sidebar.

What It Is

dsh-free-games is an independent community plugin maintained by Entaum. It is not an official product of DeepSeek or Spawnd, but it provides a UI similar to an official experience. The plugin displays published Spawnd.gg game cabinets in the sidebar of the Web GUI.

Installation and Enablement

Before installing the plugin, ensure that the current environment supports a Web server and Client slots. The installation command is as follows:

dsh plugin --profile web add github:Entaum/dsh-free-games

After installation is complete, restart dsh web, then refresh the GUI. You will see the new “Games” button at the bottom of the sidebar. It is located above the “Settings” button.

Core Features

  1. Sidebar Control
The plugin adds a Games control in sidebar.footer.action, with a sort order of 80, positioned before Settings and styled to match Settings.

  2. Game Cabinet Display
Displays the list of published games in data/spawnd_game_list.json. Cover and hover preview data are populated from live Spawnd data, and the host caches these overlays approximately every 15 minutes.

  3. Sorting and Search
Supports searching by game name. Sorting options include:

    • Newest (default): sorted by published_at.
    • Name: sorted alphabetically by name.
    • Recently played: sorted by most recent playtime.
  4. Playback and Embedding
Clicking a game cover opens a 16:9 embedded player. Minimizing keeps the iframe mounted (the player is hidden only on narrow-screen devices; clicking Games restores it).
For navigation, clicking the Spawnd logo returns to the previous page, and clicking Next randomly selects another published game.

  5. Link Tracking
All external links to Spawnd include the utm_source=deepseekplugin parameter and add the rel="noopener noreferrer" attribute for security.

Notes

  • Spawnd.gg only: The plugin strictly restricts data sources. Page and embed URLs must be https://www.spawnd.gg/ or https://spawnd.gg/, and cover and snippet URLs must come from https://assets.spawnd.gg/. Any non-Spawnd URLs are rejected.
  • No extra configuration: The plugin does not require additional configuration files.
  • Data storage: Recently played game IDs are stored only in the browser’s localStorage, under the key dsh-free-games:recent.
  • Third-party code: The game iframe runs third-party Spawnd code, which is expected behavior.
  • Compatibility requirements: It is recommended to use it with DeepSeek Harness Web 0.1.0-rc or later (tested on 0.1.1-rc.2) and @deepseek-ai/cordis ^4.0.1.

Summary

dsh-free-games provides a lightweight entertainment entry point, in line with DSH’s “everything is a plugin” philosophy. It relies entirely on Spawnd.gg data, avoids complex local configuration, and is suitable for scenarios that need to quickly integrate game functionality into a Web interface.
