When using the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) Web interface, frequently switching models and adjusting the reasoning (thinking) intensity are common needs. This plugin integrates that workflow into a compact “seat” next to the input box, providing a Claude Desktop-style interaction that can replace or supplement the original model selection panel.
What It Is¶
dsh-ui-skin-switcher is a plugin built for the DSH Web interface. It registers the conversation.input.model plugin slot and renders a model and reasoning-intensity switcher next to the input box. It follows the same channel as the official first-party model selector: it reads the model directories via ctx.modelDirectories, then submits selections through the same selection API, ensuring that switching results remain consistent with the /model panel.
Core Features¶
- Model switching: Click the button to expand the list. The list is grouped by provider, and the current model is marked with a check.
- Reasoning intensity slider: Supports both clicking and dragging. The slider is displayed only for models that declare
reasoningEfforts. - Maximum-intensity dot-matrix animation: When the highest level is reached, a dot-matrix animation appears inside the track, and the slider is accompanied by a glow effect.
- Per-model memory: Remembers the last selected reasoning intensity for each model, so it can be restored quickly after switching models.
- Theme adaptation: Colors are bound to DSH theme variables, supporting light and dark themes as well as transparent background skins.
Installation and Enabling¶
Install it using the official CLI:
dsh plugin --profile web add @domitor-syh/dsh-ui-skin-switcher
After installation is complete, restart dsh web. The switcher button will then appear next to the input box.
Usage¶
- Switch models: Click the button next to the input box and select a model from the list. The list is grouped by provider, and the current model is marked with a check.
- Adjust intensity: For models that declare
reasoningEfforts, a reasoning-intensity button appears to the right of the model. After clicking it, drag the slider or click on the track to switch between levels.
Notes¶
- Version requirement: Only DSH 0.1.5 and later are supported.
- Configuration requirement: Reasoning intensity is defined as a vendor-private wire-level value for each level. Incorrect values may cause requests to fail silently, so the plugin does not provide a unified level configuration. You must manually modify the
settings.yamlfile in the DSH home directory. - Display logic: The slider is displayed only for models that declare
reasoningEfforts. If the current model does not declare this capability, the intensity-adjustment feature is not shown.
