Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) uses a plugin-based architecture, allowing developers to extend functionality as needed. Whiteboat-dsh is the Whiteboat ecosystem’s adaptation for the DSH platform. It introduces “Still Water” as the first feature slice, aiming to provide a space for pausing or input before starting a real session, while reusing Whiteboat’s core visual and interaction capabilities.

What It Is

Whiteboat-dsh is a client plugin running on DSH, maintained by Circleyan and licensed under the MIT License. It integrates the Whiteboat water-surface experience into the DSH environment, enabling developers to think, observe, or prepare without immediately initiating AI calls.

Core Features

Still Water

Still Water is the core feature in the current version. It provides a non-branded water-surface view, allowing users to pause or input before starting a real session. Merely viewing the water surface does not create sessions, prompts, AI calls, or data writes.

Visuals and Interaction

  • 3D Small Boat and Themes: The 3D small boat renders according to light C / dark E themes, with nighttime materials consistent with Obsidian.
  • Ripple Effect: When sending an idea, a stone is randomly dropped and circular ripples spread from the editor center.
  • Reused Capabilities: The water surface reuses Whiteboat’s shared water body, small boat, pointer navigation, mobile roaming, wake intensity, and celestial projection.

Audio and Lifecycle

  • Water-Surface Sound: Includes soft offline water-surface recordings, and the sound fades as the small boat moves. DSH remembers the mute choice.
  • Native Preservation: The editor, workspace, presets, commands, permissions, models, reasoning level, drafts, and send lifecycle remain in DSH’s native state.

Installation and Enabling

Before installing, ensure the environment meets the requirements: Node.js >= 20.19 and pnpm.

Directly install the prebuilt package from the GitHub release into DSH’s web profile:

Typical Usage

Adjusting Boat Speed

On the “Whiteboat” page in DSH settings, you can adjust the “small boat follow speed.” The default value is 100%, and it can be adjusted between 50% and 200%. Changes take effect immediately and apply to pointer following, click or touch destinations, and mobile roaming. The setting is saved in DSH’s settings document.

Muting Sound

Use the speaker button in the upper-right corner, or disable sound in DSH settings under “Whiteboat -> Still Water -> Water-surface sound.” If the browser blocks autoplay, sound can be started by clicking, touching, or pressing a key. Audio attribution is in AUDIO-LICENSE.md.

Notes

  • Data Safety: Merely viewing the water surface does not create sessions, prompts, AI calls, or writes. Opening the editor prepares at most an empty session; only non-empty sends create prompts.
  • Canvas Limitations: Obsidian’s ripples are Canvas node context and do not become DSH node views. This package does not replicate Canvas nodes, edges, or ripple state.
  • Permissions and Access: No microphone access is involved. Users installing the prebuilt package do not need access to private repositories. The prebuilt package includes the required core code and has no runtime dependencies on private submodules.
  • Browser Restrictions: If the browser blocks autoplay, sound must be started through user interaction (clicking, touching, or pressing a key).
  • Feature Evolution: Future features are located in src/features/ or in adapters and reuse whiteboat-core. Feature parity is not automatic.
