Foreword

Under the plugin-based architecture of DeepSeek Harness (DSH), the execution logic of sub-agents typically runs in independent processes or contexts. When developers need to inspect the execution status, tool call details, or reasoning processes of sub-agents, there is a lack of a visual monitoring entry point. The DSH plugin dsh-subagent-inspector addresses this observability gap. It provides read-only interfaces in the Web profile, mapping the internal state of sub-agents to the frontend interface in real time.

Plugin Positioning

This is a client-side plugin maintained by chongyangdu2008-cyrus. Its core value is to provide a read-only real-time sub-agent process inspector. It does not interfere with sub-agent scheduling or permissions; it only reads official Session and subagent events and structurally displays the complex execution trees and logs.

Core Features

The plugin adds an entry point to conversation.session.header.actions, coexisting with the official ui-subagent navigation. Its main capabilities include:

  • Sub-agent tree view: Displays a multi-level collapsible sub-agent tree, listing execution status, mode, depth, duration, token usage, and the tool currently in use.
  • Turn -> Step details: Expands Turns and Steps by hierarchy, displaying task prompts, reasoning processes, response content, Todo lists, and tool call requests and results.
  • Real-time update mechanism: Uses SSE (Server-Sent Events) to push data in real time, with reconnection deduplication and automatic following of new events.
  • Multilingual support: The interface provides Simplified Chinese and English options.
  • Security boundary: The plugin only reads official Session, agent, and subagent events and does not register model tools.

Installation and Activation

Install the plugin via the command line:

dsh plugin --profile web add github:chongyangdu2008-cyrus/dsh-subagent-inspector#v0.1.0

After installation, restart the Web profile:

dsh web

After startup, open the right-side drawer in the current session’s title bar to view the real-time sub-agent tree.

Notes

  1. Compatibility: This plugin only supports Harness Web and is pinned to DeepSeek Harness v0.1.1-rc.2.
  2. Security risk: The inspector displays the complete Session log, which may contain sensitive information such as source code, file content, and command output. Use it only in trusted network environments. The plugin does not expose CORS, and its interface is same-origin with Harness Web.
  3. Log display logic: For Fork sub-agents, the plugin displays only the suffix of its own logs (seq >= seedLength) and does not copy the implementation of third-party plugins.
  4. Source code review: The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process. It is recommended to check the source code and license before installation.
