Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) allows users to define agent tasks through configuration files. When a task runs in the background or the window is minimized, checking the status directly in the interface becomes inconvenient. The dsh-web-push-notification plugin solves this issue by using native browser notifications, ensuring users do not miss key events such as task completion, task stop, approval, or a required reply.
Plugin Overview¶
This plugin belongs to the web tools category, is maintained by blauerberg, and is licensed under the MIT open-source license. It mainly addresses how to receive real-time task status updates via browser notifications while a DSH task is running.
Installation and Configuration¶
Installing the plugin requires specifying a profile. For example, for the web profile, run the following command:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-web-push-notification
After installation, add the plugin configuration to the configuration file. The default configuration file path is $DSH_HOME/profiles/web/cordis.patch.yml. Add the following content:
- id: dsh-web-push-notification
config:
vapidSubject: 'mailto:admin@example.com'
Here, vapidSubject is the VAPID contact URI, which can be in mailto: or https: format. The subscription and VAPID keys are stored by default in $DSH_HOME/profiles/<profile>/web-push.json.
Enabling and Usage¶
Start the profile with the plugin configured:
dsh --profile web
Due to browser security policies, the configuration file must be opened over HTTPS unless accessed via a local loopback address. On iOS and iPadOS, the configuration file must be added to the home screen before enabling Web Push.
After startup, open Settings → Notifications, enable Web Push, and use Send test to test it.
Features and Notes¶
This plugin provides the following features:
- Event notifications: Supports four event types: task completion, task stop or failure, approval required, and reply required. All types are enabled by default.
- Notification content: Supports both full-content notifications (default) and summary-only notifications.
- Independent settings: Each browser or installed PWA stores its notification settings separately.
- Storage path: The subscription and VAPID keys are stored by default in
$DSH_HOME/profiles/<profile>/web-push.json.
Considerations¶
- The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process.
- It is recommended to inspect the source code and license before use.
This plugin integrates DSH status into browser notifications, making it suitable for developers who need to monitor background task flows through a browser. The codebase and documentation can be found on GitHub.
