When developing agents in DSH, long conversations are often difficult to locate quickly. Manually browsing long dialogues can cause key steps to be missed. dsh-turn-outline registers a collapsible view in the sidebar, collapses long conversations by user turns into structured summaries of “input + tool steps + output”, and provides one-click navigation.

Core Features

  • Collapse trajectories by user turn: Conversations are collapsed into a structured “input → tool steps → output” format, making long sessions easy to scan. Supports multi-level folding and tool-type filter chips.
  • One-click navigation to the original location: Click any turn or tool step to automatically load history and scroll to the corresponding line in the chat view or trace view.
  • Zero AI dependency and read-only, zero intrusion: Pure event folding, no LLM calls, and no modification of the DSH core. The host provides read-only routing, and the client registers a read-only tab.
  • Incremental performance: Session subscriptions drive refreshes; no timed polling is used. An incremental folding algorithm optimizes rendering overhead.

Installation and Enablement

This plugin depends on the DSH plugin host and dsh-better-sidebar (optional peer; the plugin is inert if not installed).

Installation

For the Desktop profile:

When using the Web profile, replace --profile desktop with --profile web.

Restart and Enable

  • Host changes (such as route registration) require a full DSH restart.
  • Client changes (such as tab registration) require a hard refresh (Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+R).

After installation, restart DSH. Open the + menu in the dsh-better-sidebar sidebar and select “Turn Trace”.

Usage

  1. Open any session and add “Turn Trace” in the sidebar.
  2. The trace is displayed collapsed by user turn. Click any turn or tool step to navigate back to the original location in the conversation (supports both chat view and trace view).
  3. Use turn or tool-type filter chips to collapse irrelevant content.

Technical and Compatibility Notes

  • Mainline version: Based on DSH 0.2.0-rc.x as the mainline, using the uiConversation conversation view registry.
  • Compatible versions: The 0.1.x line is compatible with DSH 0.1.2-rc.1 / 0.1.1-rc.x (stable) and automatically falls back to the old snapshot navigation logic.
  • Dependency: dsh-better-sidebar is optional, requiring version >=0.17.0.
  • Permissions: Reads conversation logs only; makes no LLM calls and does not modify core data.
