When developing in DeepSeek Harness Web, Git interactions need to be handled directly within the browser environment. The dsh-git-sidebar plugin provides a visual sidebar panel that resolves fragmented workflows for switching workspaces, committing code, managing branches, and related tasks.
What Is This¶
This plugin is maintained by Adamaik and provides a complete Git integration solution. It follows the currently active conversation workspace, automatically locates the Git repository root, and offers a draggable entry point on the right edge of the window. It supports viewing changes, generating commit messages, and performing basic Git operations.
Core Features¶
- Workspace following: The panel switches based on the selection in the conversation list on the left and automatically resolves the corresponding Git root directory (it supports searching upward from the workspace path or performing a one-level downward search for nested checkouts).
- Draggable entry: Displayed as a vertical tab on the right edge of the window; click to expand the panel, or drag to adjust its position.
- Change list: Groups changes by staged and unstaged, shows status badges (M/A/D/R/?), and allows stage or unstage by clicking a file.
- Branch switching: The dropdown lists local and remote branches. Before switching, it checks whether the workspace is clean and warns if uncommitted changes exist.
- AI commit messages: Uses the default model for the current session to generate a Conventional Commits–compliant Chinese subject line based on
git statusandgit diff HEAD, and populates it into the editor for modification. - Actions: Supports committing (with an option to commit all changes), pushing, pulling, and refreshing.
Installation and Activation¶
Run the following command in the terminal to install it. This plugin requires DSH version >= 0.0.1.
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-git-sidebar
Typical Usage¶
After installation, the Git tab appears on the right edge of the window. Click the tab to open the panel, and drag the tab to adjust the panel position. Select a conversation in the left sidebar, and the panel will point to the workspace associated with that conversation.
Technical Notes¶
- License: MIT.
- Architecture: On the host side, JSON routes are registered through the
webServerservice, and Git commands are run through theshellservice; the AI commit feature calls thellm.streaminterface. On the browser side, it is adsh.clientmodule registered intoshell.overlay. - Dependencies: Before using it, ensure your environment meets the dependency requirements.
Summary¶
This plugin gives DSH Web users a way to manage code without leaving the interface. See the GitHub repository for more details and the source code: https://github.com/Adamaik/dsh-git-sidebar
