Introduction¶
When developing or debugging with DeepSeek Harness (DSH), a blank Web UI or connection errors are usually related to WSL network configuration. Because the service is bound inside WSL, accessing it from Windows may require a specific IP address, firewall rules, or restarting WSL. This plugin checks the output of hostname -I and the listening status reported by ss to diagnose port ownership and provide recommendations for Windows localhost forwarding.
What It Is¶
dsh-wsl-port is a network utility plugin for DeepSeek Harness and belongs to the dsh-wsl-kit suite. It provides a diagnostic tool called port_doctor, which reports the WSL IP address and whether a TCP port is listening, and offers recommendations for Localhost forwarding on the Windows side.
Core Features¶
- Diagnose which process inside WSL is using a specific port.
- Report the WSL IP address and whether a TCP port is listening.
- Provide specific recommendations for Windows
localhostforwarding. - Check the output of
hostname -Iand the listening status fromss.
Installation and Enablement¶
Install it using the DSH plugin management command:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:173787247/dsh-wsl-port
Configuration¶
The plugin supports configuring timeout and default port:
- id: dsh-wsl-port
name: dsh-wsl-port
config:
timeoutMs: 15000
defaultPort: 3080
Usage Notes¶
- Default Port: The tool checks port 3080 by default, but it can be overridden with a parameter.
- Port Distinction: DSH Web UI uses 3080 (inside WSL) and 3081 (Windows forwarding, requiring
?token=). If accessing:3080from Windows shows a blank page or authentication errors, you should check:3081/?token=. - Runtime Recommendations: Do not bind
dsh web --host 0.0.0.0on the Windows side. When issues occur, it is recommended to first runrestart-dsh-web.shandcheck-dsh-health.shfrom the suite.
Environment Requirements and Notes¶
- Dependencies: Requires DSH version ≥ 0.1.2.
- Suite: It is part of the
dsh-wsl-kitsuite. It is recommended to use theKIT_SET=daily,llm, orfullsuite. - License: MIT License.
Conclusion¶
port_doctor is a practical tool for resolving port mapping and connection issues with DSH in a WSL environment. For more details, refer to the GitHub repository.
