During the development or debugging of DeepSeek Harness (DSH), developers typically need to monitor agent runtime status through logs or the interface. A persistent local background status indicator can make process monitoring easier. The dsh-discord-richpresence plugin is designed exactly for this purpose: it mirrors DSH’s interaction state in real time to the local Discord client’s Rich Presence, while pushing only vague, customizable status text.
Plugin Positioning¶
This is a host-side background plugin. After installation, it is injected into DSH’s startup process and runs persistently with DSH, with no tray icon, no interface, and no window. It does not read workspace content; it only responds to DSH’s coarse-grained lifecycle signals.
Core Features¶
The plugin listens for coarse-grained activity signals from a running DSH instance and maps them to Discord status:
-
Signal Monitoring: Monitors and pushes the following signals:
- User message enters the agent inbox
- Agent is running (thinking / streaming output)
- Model tool is executing
- New session / branch created
- No activity
-
Rich Mode (Optional): After enabling it in settings, the plugin pushes statuses with real-time data, such as:
- Token count
- Thinking duration
- Current thinking step
- Note: Rich mode data is always associated with the session you are currently interacting with (i.e., the session containing the last real input).
-
Privacy Protection: The plugin never reads workspace content (such as message bodies, file paths, or tool input/output); it only responds to lifecycle signals and pushes configured status strings.
-
Compatibility: Compatible with Harness 0.1.1-rc.1 and later.
Installation¶
In the DSH checkout directory or profile, run the following command:
dsh plugin --profile web add https://github.com/0QwQ0/dsh-discord-richpresence/releases/latest/download/dsh-discord-richpresence.tgz
After installing and restarting DSH, the status will automatically appear on your Discord profile (the Discord Application ID is preset, no configuration required).
Configuration and Usage¶
1. Basic Status Configuration¶
All configuration is located under config in the bundle patch (cordis.patch.yml). You can customize status text by modifying the statuses list.
config:
userInput:
agentWorking:
Brainstorming
Project
tools:
forking:
idle:
2. Enabling Rich Mode¶
Rich mode is not part of the patch configuration; it is enabled in the DSH interface:
- In the DSH interface, go to Settings → General Settings.
- Find the Rich Presence rich status toggle and enable it.
Once enabled, the plugin uses real-time data (such as token count and thinking duration) to intelligently randomize status pushes, and each status is displayed in Discord for at least 8 seconds.
Notes¶
- Environment Requirements: The Discord desktop client must be running locally (Rich Presence uses a local IPC endpoint).
- Leftover After Uninstall: After uninstalling the plugin, a
discord-richpresence:configuration section may remain insettings.yaml. Although this does not affect operation, you can manually delete this section to fully restore the original state.
Conclusion¶
dsh-discord-richpresence provides DSH users with a lightweight, local Discord-based status monitoring solution. It does not intrude into workspace content and only reflects agent lifecycle status through coarse-grained signals, making it suitable for development or demo scenarios that require background status visibility.
