In the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) ecosystem, plugins are the primary way to extend core capabilities. Manually managing plugin directories and configuration files is often inefficient and error-prone. The dsh-plugin-installer plugin addresses this pain point by providing a visual plugin directory and an automated installation assistant through the Web GUI.

What Is This

This is a client plugin developed by user zhang66633, positioned as DSH’s “Plugin Store + Installation Assistant.” It encapsulates two features in the same package:

  1. Plugin Store UI: Adds a “Plugin Store” tab to the session view ring in the Web GUI.
  2. Installation Assistant Skill: Includes a built-in skill in which the Agent is responsible for performing the actual installation steps.

Core Features

  • Web UI Browsing: Browse the plugin directory in a browser, with support for viewing name, description, original link, and star count.
  • One-Click Installation: After clicking the install button, the system asks for confirmation and then submits the installation request.
  • Agent Execution: The installation process is taken over by the Agent in the current session, which is responsible for executing the specific installation commands.
  • Result Verification: Verification is performed after installation is complete.

Install and Enable

Add the plugin to the Web Profile using the following command:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-plugin-installer

After installation, restart the dsh web service for the changes to take effect.

Typical Usage

  1. After installation, start or restart dsh web.
  2. Open any session and find the new “Plugin Store” tab in the View Ring.
  3. Search for a plugin in the store (for example, search for vision), click “Install,” and confirm the prompt.
  4. After installation is complete, restart dsh web again.

Use Cases and Notes

This plugin is suitable for scenarios where you want to browse and install DSH plugins directly in the Web GUI, and for developers who need the Agent to handle the installation process consistently.

  • Permissions and Security:
    • The Host process has read-only access only to the plugin’s data/store.json directory.
    • The actual installation operations are executed by the Agent in the current session. This process may read from and write to the DSH Profile and plugin directories, but users can see the execution status of each step in the interface and stop it at any time.
    • The plugin itself contains no telemetry or analytics code and does not access credentials.
